On January 19, 2025, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Prince Sverre Magnus attended the Group E Preliminary Round match of the 2025 IHF Men's Handball World Championship. The game, held between Norway and Portugal, took place at the Unity Arena in Fornebu, Oslo. The Portuguese squad defeated host team Norway 31-28 and secured their spot in the quarter-finals after three wins in the preliminary round.
