  1. Her daytime dress I love, she looks very elegant and stylish. The photo of her with the Opera House in the background is iconic, its one of the most beautiful views in the world! I may be bias! The night time gown I love except for the large black mass on the bodice. Her hair looked beautifully styled, she looked stunning. Welcome to the country Princess Astrid. (the next 2 days are going to be warm)

  2. How lovely to see princess Astrid again. I like the brown dress. The purple dress is a bit too baggy, although the colour is wonderful for her. I really like her hairstyle with the purple dress. It has an artistique vibe, a bit Meryl Streep in the Devil wears Prada. Looking forward to seeing her the next few days. Damsel Dragonfly

  4. This dress has an a little old-fashioned style like almost all dresses with a bow tied on the chest. But they suit Princess Astrid quite well. I like her hair in the second outfit very much.
PS: Who on earth in the fashion industry chooses models to show clothes like this model? Her clothes are hanging on her like a hanger, her posture is bad. The shoes the model has are also terrible - I wouldn't even want them for free. I always thought that fashion houses and companies want to sell their goods and entice female customers to buy them, and they choose models accordingly. Models - like this one - rather discourage me from buying the product.

    1. @ Stephanie - The shoes also by Gucci were fashionable when I was young and they are fashion again since the summer of 2022. Princess Astrid's daughter wore the closed white model on her wedding day.
Chanel and Gucci are brands that Princess Astrid is wearing regularly. But she also wears Belgian brands when on economic missions abroad. Rose

    2. Ooh Stephanie I agree re the model. It’s such a weird weird thing in fashion that certain items eg these shoes become fashionable despite being objectively uncomfortable and out of proportion. And yet people buy them and believe in them, especially if they have paid a lot for them. The psychology of fashion is fascinating but also frustrating, because many styles defy logic, people pay a lot to join the trend… but then the items quickly end up in landfill!

As a matter of fact, I had a pair of this shoe model in the 60-tees and they were very comfortable. In those days women wore also mini dresses and mini skirts. My shoes were not by Gucci but by an unknown brand and completely in leather. The block heels were a welcome change after the stiletto's we were used to wear (not as high as they are now). The point of the shoe had a square form which was also a welcome change. I remember I wore them every day at work and to go out with my boy friend. I wore them until it was not fashion anymore. After that they were completely used. In those days fashion items lasted longer than now and they were less expensive (By the way the shoes the model is wearing are too big for her feet). Rose

    1. Me too. A Bernaette Chirac look-a-like.

For those of our bloggers who don’t know Bernadette Chirac, she is the wife of the late Jacques Chirac, the ex President of France who held his office from 1995 to 2007.
She lives in Paris and is now 90 years old and has been a well respected person throughout her life. I understand that there is currently a film being made on her and her life in the French political world.

  6. I love princess Astrid in the Gucci dress. The purple or blue dress (depending on the flash light) is not a good style for her. Her retro hair do is not bad, but I prefer her with the way she is doing her hair usually. Rose

  7. Not crazy about this dress but it looks much better than some others she wore in the past. I do like the hairstyle in the blue dress, she looked so much younger. css

  8. Lovely Gucci dress, she wears it well.
The blue/ purple? dress: extraordinary and festive, but nice?

  9. The beige dress is so nice on her and doesn’t she look a lot like her beautiful Mum on some of the pictures? The blue/violet dress I don’t really understand……Ac

  10. The Gucci dress is perfect on Astrid--stylish and classic. The purple or blue dress for her evening engagement is too big and overwhelms her--too many accordian pleats, huge sleeves, and the black decoration needs to be removed. Hope to see more of her visit in the coming days.

  11. The first Gucci dress is lovely. I don't like that purple dress, too voluminous for my taste.

Nice to see Pss Astrid on this tour.
She looks so smart and classy.
Anyway , I ask myself if such a visit should have been carried out by the Monarch himself and the Queen....
I guess it is fine, though, given that she is working with
and on behalf of an economic mission and this is not meant to be a state visit.

When King Phillipe was still a prince he leaded the economic missions abroad. When he became king his sister Princess Astrid started to lead the economic missions. King Phillipe and Queen Mathilde cannot do all the work themselves. If you are interested in other economic missions which took place in the company of Princess Astrid, you could google "MFA Flickr" and click on the Photo Albums and you will find all the pictures of the Belgian delegation abroad (Ministers, state secretaries and last but not least HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium) recently and in the past.

If you read my post carefully , you can see that I said I understand Pss Astrid's presence given that this is a working visit and not a state one.
      Thanks for the link anyway.

  13. I normally don’t mind pussy bows but I don’t love the one on her first dress. I would have removed that. And while I love her hair styling for the second outfit, the cut of blue dress doesn’t flatter her. There are just too many pleats.

  14. Lovely woman, the first outfit in brown is nice, the 2nd outfit with the huge black thing perched on the front is not a good look. Take off the huge bug portion and the dress would be wonderful. Edwina

  15. So, looks like Gucci is now doing a range for conservative, mature women.
Reminds me of the dress worn by Robin Williams when he played the role of the housekeeper in the film Mrs Doubtfire.
Note: the dress is advertised with a price tag of €3.500
In the role, he also wore an unbuttoned cardigan : oh good morning CamillaπŸ˜€

Frankly, except for the deep purple ensemble which gives her a splash of colour, I think that Pss Astrid does nothing to enliven her wardrobe.
I mean that, as much as I appreciate her clothes brands, she looks as if she is trying hard to appesr an ever more mature conservative lady than she really is.
Pity, she has a good potential but it gets lost in sartorial choices I do not applaud on her.
