As patron of The Association of Show and Agricultural Organizations, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended the 147th Driffield Agricultural Society Show at Driffield Showground in Driffield. In 2021 and 2022 the show was run over two days for the first time in its history due to the COVID-19 pandemic but returns to its original one-day format in 2023.

Great red shirt dress and wedges for the duchess…she should wear red more often! Like the other outfit as well. It seems she prefers ankle length but the fullness overwhelms her frame and I wish she would lop off the bottom.

My main comment about Sophie will always be that I appreciate her frequent attendances of various events that involve "average" Britons in many capacities, and her relaxed and positive manner every time. - Ellie

Isn't it summer in the UK? first outfit feels too dark and dreary. Lovely red dress but too long as usual. No summer vibes whatsoever.

      Your comment sounds rather weird.
I'm m not going to give a technical outline about weather conditions in Driffield but I just wonder if you have at least a rough idea of the difference between air temperature and ground temperature.
That's why a ground temperature update is normally given just before touching ground on planes.
Briefly, the current temperature in Driffield is around 14-19 degrees Celsius so it is very similar to that you can find in many places in Norhern Europe at this time of the year (yesterday it was 19 degrees in Copenhagen and it''s gonna be quite rainy in the next few days).
You can find information.on any weather site.
Exceptional hot weather Is currently to be found elsewhere.
      The Duchess's ensembles are appropriate.

I share what other people told you on various occasions.
It is not the first time you mistake others' words probably because you do not grasp the real meaning of what people wrote in their commentaries (I guess it's mainly your issue with the language).
I didn't t lost my temper at all.
      That may be your problem.
Try to read more carefully into things.
It Is quite obvious you have no idea what summer is normally in northern Europe.
      That's all.

In my view these two outfits are less successful than D.Sophie’s recent choices. The blazer in the first outfit seems too long, and the colours do not coordinate in any way with the dress. In the second outfit, the dress is a good colour and fit (although too long, as usual), but the shoes seem too casual. (V.M.)

I like the duchess and what she wears, but it seems all the royal ladies are avoiding any attention their wardrobe may bring, so they dont become a style icon. They want the attention to be for the event and charity rather than themselves.

Mmh I find your remark thought provoking, you might be right particularly Anne and Sophie could be indeed "dressing down" to let the event/charity/ others shine

I wouldn't put Anne on the same level (concerning dressing) as Sophie. At least Sophie doesn't look as she has stepped out from another era. Even when she is dressing down she looks up-to-date. Rose

This looks like a dress that could be worn at a Christmas gathering, with some glitter here and there and some greenery. The hem needs to be shortened and evened. This is not a dress for the middle of July.

The Duchess visited Driffield. The highest temperature for today is 19 Celsius, the deepest 11. I suppose they did not have a sudden heat wave yesterday either. (GM)

It seems the Duchess of E. has an overall hem problem (besides them being too long). Does she make even an even hem look uneven? :-) GM

All shades of red are a winning choice for this summer.as you can see in many S/S collections 2023.
As I said above, the Duchess's choices are appropriate for the current weather conditions in Driffield (it has nothing to do with the middle of July).

Whew! 😥 I thought the second photo showed the Duchess with hideous fushia trainers and bag but it’s the person behind her! 😂
Nonetheless, my favourite Duchess has let me down here with the drab colours of the first outfit and the red dress, potentially lovely, too long, tied like a trench coat and matched to totally the wrong shoes. She’s such a great person but these outfits both miss the mark by miles, imo

Sorry, hideous this time! Not sure what fashion trend she is moving to but lately these long skirts / dresses are not nice on her, especially these 2. Red yes, but this one is not a nice red, seems too large for some reason it looks like wrapping her body into a bag :-(

  11. Superbe la robe rouge-corail mais avec quelques centimètres en moins pour égaliser et arriver au mollet, il me semble que cela avantagerait sa silhouette tout en portant ces chaussures compensées !

  12. The red dress looks stylish, the color, I love and suits Sophie. In this instance her wedges work in well with the dress. The 1st dress looks to be Navy (I think) maybe dark green, regardless from what I can see it looks nice, the jacket is well fitted.

  13. I guess we all have to make-do with the maxi-style dresses of the DoE and the PoW for the time being. There's nothing much wrong with both outfits, though, except that ... length.

Sophie seems to go beyond just dressing to draw attention to the occasion or cause she's visiting, it's almost verging on lack of effort at times, and as I've mentioned several times, if she would just invest in tailoring, everything would be just that much better on her. But again, it may be a budgetary issue.

Remember several years ago, pre-Covid and around the time Meghan entered the scene in 2016 or so, when Sophie had that style evolution? Things were well-tailored and well-accessorized, the hair was on-point (her hair actually has always looked nice and still does), the shoes were great - and better yet, one could see them clearly because maxi-dresses and too long hems weren't obscuring them.

It seems that while everything is "fine," it's often too casual and her fashion has actually devolved and taken a slight step backwards from where it was before.

I will disagree with those that like the wedges with the red dress. I don't think they work with the dress at all. I do agree with those that think the dresses are too long as usual. I don't think alterations are a budgetary issue for her. Her clothes cost enough. If you can afford to spend that much on a dress, a little more on having them properly fitted to you isn't going to break the bank. I don't think she cares much. Maybe she feels settled at her age, which would be sad. She is much too young to give up. Either she doesn't have anyone styling her, or she has a yes-person too afraid to tell her what she needs to hear. I think of a royal's wardrobe as a little treat for those that come out to see them. Her attire can give one the impression that she doesn't put much thought or effort into her appearance when I believe she does.

  19. I think the Duchess is looking better with age. She does seem to prefer the longer dresses but I think that is just her style and she probably feels comfortable in them. She looks like she has lost some weight recently and it could be that the red dress was obtained prior to the weight loss. It does look like it is swallowing her up. Otherwise, she seems to be doing a great job for the Monarchy.
