Lovely outfits, very conservative, nothing wild. css

    1. The red dress is lovely, but generally speaking too conservative and often boring, particularly crown princess Kiko.

I agree. Princess Kiko is such a lovely young lady, but she doesn't dress age-appropriately.

  2. The red dress with embroidery looks fabulous, as does the addition of the brooch. Lovely outfit. The pale blue dress, looks beautiful. The Empress looks great, her dress from what I can see, looks divine. Love her choice of jewellery, pearl necklace and brooch. The Crown Princess Kiko looks wonderful, her dress really is splendid, again her jewels are perfect, pearl necklace and brooch.

i was shocked when i saw this on TV.
not only me. some Japanese who supported the imperial family for many years also shocked.
Princess Aiko should've stand next to His Majesty the Emperor Emiritus Akihito and Her Majesty the Empress Emirita Michiko.

Emperor Naruhito must be stand at CENTER.

I really anxious this royal family.

perhaps cultural differences, why wouldn't the empress have her daughter by her side! what is shocking is the use of masks when they are outdoors and of the same household

Thanks 4 ur comments. Sorry for the delay, but actually I am Japanese.
In Aiko's standing position, it means the next Emperor but this is wrong.
Emperor Naruhito was declared Crown Prince Fumihito to be the next Emperor at home and abroad.
This makes it look like Princess Aiko is dissenting from Emperor Naruhito's declaration, or that Emperor Naruhito himself is denying Crown Prince Fumihito.
The position of the royal family is very important and meaningful.
I want them to behave like royalty, order, and uphold traditions.

      I agree with you.
Again, the treatment of the Emperor and the Crown Prince was terrible, and the other day there was a surprisingly rare case of Empress Masako having the press redo the shooting of the video because the Emperor was getting in the way of her daughter.
These are shocking to me, too, because I respect the Shinto religion, which has deeply rooted in the spirit of the Japanese people and the imperial lineage that has continued for 2683 years.

I was very glad with the red dress. Finally someone, although very careful, is breaking through this fashion protocol of boring not flashy dresses. Hopefully the young generation will continue on this path so that they become more the representatives of a young Japanese generation, that is so fashionable dressed in general

When you look at the wide shot it’s evident that many of the ladies chose more brightly coloured clothing. Perhaps the protocol is different for this event? (V.M.)

Anonymous@10:05, I have to agree that the masking in this case is a bit much.

And masks aren’t even mandatory outdoors in Japan. Haven’t been during the whole pandemic but everyone wears them. Even alone driving their car!! R H

Love seeing Princess Aiko in the lovely shade of pale blue. There has been such a preponderance of cream/ivory lately. — Jane

  9. I am in constant awe of the "sewmanship" (I do not know what else to call it) of the Japanese royal ladies garments. The fact that the body shapes of the Crown Prince's family would make a paper sack look amazing does help too. I think that those dresses are also interlined with something like flannel in the bodice and skirt areas which gives them a lot of very soft looking body to the fabric. I would love to see how it is all done. Gradually the style choices are moving into the 21st centuary. They still have about 40 years to go but it is getting there. I hope they keep that huge knowledge of sewing craftmanship along the way.
