  1. Surprising to see these three very different women together for one good cause!
Style-wise I mostly like Queen Rania in her beautifull simple dress. Queen Camilla wears a radiant colour: quite good; princess Mary: I donot know..

  2. Three very different outfits but I love them all. The Queen consort’s bright blue dress is her usual style but nice and bright, I love CP Mary’s tweed effect skirt, and Queen Rania’s teal dress is just gorgeous

  3. All three ladies look smart and lovely in their own individual styles. Both Q. Rania and CP Mary might have looked slightly more chic if their skirt lengths were shortened by about an inch. But that's a small quibble.
Looking forward to photos from tomorrow when Q. Mathilde joins them.

  4. Rania looks lovely with the teal dress and matching shoes. Blue is a flattering color for Camilla and it suits her well. Not a fan of Mary's skirt especially around her waist. It looks ratty and unfinished like a first project in a beginner's sewing class. Her blouse is pretty with the color detail around her collar. MD

  5. How does a reception at Buckingham palace raise awareness?
And how does more and more awareness solve the problem?
Violence - against anyone - is a crime, no need to make us aware. The people committing violent crimes don´t care about the law, let alone anyone´s raised awareness. And some royal ladies having tea together won´t change that. The ressources spent on the reception, the fancy outfits, the UN campaign for this day, people and their entourage flying to London (...) had made a bigger impact if donated to fund the police.
Also, what´s with all those cords at Clarence house?

    1. The main problem with domestic violence is not police funding, it is that it usually goes unreported! Women are unlikely to report the violence that is committed against them or their children in their own homes, because it is done by family members...
So yes, awareness can help, because it encourages women to speak out.

    2. Yes, I too wonder about this “awareness” bs.

      Delete
    3. Awareness does need to be raised for the victims and the children growing up as witnesses to the violence - so they realise it isn't acceptable.

The tea and reception aren't for raising awareness - they are there for a gathering of people involved in working in this arena.

      Always so cynical.

    4. The cords are useful when using items requiring electricity.

    5. In reply to Vanessa; well, that's the first thing that came to my mind, too. A completely useless exercise in dress-ups and tea-parties, and a futile 'Reception' in Buckingham Palace. I agree on everything Vanessa says, and the expenditure of funds on this nonsense could have spent on safe-housing women from their violent partners. 'The Emperor's New Clothes' has the essence of this charade. - Ellie

    6. Well they also invite international media, related charities and organisations. These ladies are using their high profile platform, to send a message around the around that violence against women cannot be tolerated.

    7. I have read the comments and feel that I need to reply. Similar to many people, I was sexually assaulted and feel like I have an opinion that isn’t reflected in these comments. A royal social event will not stop these events from happening, and it’s ridiculous to suggest that is the goal, but it does give a voice, and perhaps a louder voice, to those that are affected. Sexual assault is a mortifying event to experience so please don’t diminish or judge those who are doing their best to effect change.

    10. Totally agree with " missy" . It's quite a narrow interpretation in above comments to think that it's about 3 ladies chitchatting with a cup of tea on violence against women. Of course organisations are invited who are dealing with this subject on a daily basis.

The world would be a terrific place if narrow-mindedness was the worst we had to endure on this planet. Wow. I think quite a few horrors have escaped your attention.

    1. Seriously? Nobody, absolutly nobody looks stunning in tweed! The high-waisted skirt is not flattering on Mary at all. Queen Rania on the other hand is pure class.

    2. Contrary to anon 04:17 I think tweed can be stunning but I agree the hight waist is a big no. It might have worked with a white or ecru top but now the whole outfit is out of proprtion. Ladyofthemanor

  7. I think all three ladies look very good and true to their own styles. CPMary’s outfit has the most details and she’s wisely limited her accessories. QC Camilla looks very relaxed in a flattering colour. I love the soft flow of her dress. Q.Rania’s dress is simple elegance. Well done ladies! (V.M.)

  8. I think all 3 women look very smart. I’m just so please CP Mary hasn’t turned up with bare legs.

  10. Wow, love all three outfits. Hard to choose who's my favorite because they all have their own style that suits them the best. Mary's skirt and blouse combo looks interesting - I wouldn't have put this skirt and blouse together but somehow they work and create elegant and classy outfit that enchance her slim figure.
It was good event...we all want to see less violence against girls and women, boys and men. More kindness, love and care, more cleverness to solve problems without violence and hurt <3

  11. Three individual outfits, but the royal ladies look lovely.. Queen Rania's dress is beautiful, subtle, simple but so elegant. CP Mary looks splendid, this outfit suits her beautifully. The Q Consort looks wonderful.

  12. As usual I like Qn Rania's style, simple, sharp, classy and more... Length is perfectly adapted to the style ! There is no fitting all length but each design has its best appropriate length.

  13. I like the style of Queen Rania's dress. Princes Mary looks good I like the skirt but not the blouse. Camilla looks terrible the dress looks as though it has a zip that does up at the front; what style is that supposed to be;her dresser and advisor need to have a rethink;also the black shoes and stockings are boring, her dress emphasises her hips too much,a midlength skirt and a short cropped jacket would look better, the colour is old fashioned.Camilla's make up looks nice. 14. I have noticed, that Rania is often wearing too dark brown nylons. Lighter nylons look better.

  15. Mary is the winner here for me. That skirt is gorgeous & can be mixed &, matched many ways. Her hair make up & other accessories just flow. Love the whole look
    Mary is elegant as usual.Mary

  16. Good news for me as I’m on the ‘get-rid-of-the-boots’ committee and it looks like our voice is being heard.
At last, Camilla has found some simple, elegant indoor shoes.
Or maybe it’s one of her six Queen’s Companions*** who has convinced her to get out of her boots.
All three ladies look elegant in their own way. Difficult to choose the ‘best dressed’.
Will be nice to see what Queen Mathilde wears when she arrives for the meeting..... Natan perhaps ???
***Off topic but I’ll be as brief as possible.
I’ve been following the so-called slimming down and modernising of the British royals talked about by Prince Charles before he became king.
Camilla announced that there would be no more ‘Ladies-in-Waiting’. There were 6 with Elizabeth II.
Camilla has instead chosen 6 of her aristocratic friends to be the “Queen’s Companions”
Change of the name but not the job.
But this is not a subject for a fashion blog.
If you want to take a look at this “interesting” subject, check out the following link with photos of the ‘Queen’s Companions’ ……….

  17. I love princess Mary outfit. The dress of queen Rania is “old style” , I don’t like. Queen Camilla dress is too many 70s . Irene

  18. I think all three women are dressed very nicely. I particularly like CP Mary's skirt and blouse, which has more texture, and, thus is more interesting than the queen consort's plain blue dresses. Queen Camilla has found her style and, at this stage, is not likely to change. Queen Rania's dress accentuates are slim figure and is very pretty though a bit boring.

  20. On the comments above:
It is not about these women meeting and drinking tea, nor about them personally.
It is about the position they have and make good use of to mobilize there networks and compliment people working in this field.

  21. I think with regard to the "what will a tea party do to help gender-based violence" argument, that raising awareness is also a call out that "we see you, we hear you, you are not alone if the fight". The tea party gathering in a palace may seem trivial and ineffective but when the movement has velocity behind it, through all these "trivial" acts, then change can happen. I applaud them for not pretending that these violent and degrading acts don't occur and trying to effect change. They all look smart and in their own wheelhouses style-wise.
