  2. Avec cette robe de couleur saumon, Maxima est magnifique en portant tous ces diamants/rubis que j'adore mais la ceinture me semble superflue ; je pense que le clutch (pochette) aurait suffi !

The queen looks stunning. I love her dress, her hair, her make-up and her jewels. I like the pops of red with the orange/apricot colour of the dress!

Absolutely agree! She looks wonderful. And the color combination of the red and apricot is not one I thought would work but it looks stunning.

    2. For grand and state dinners and gala evening events, we always see Queen Maxima at her best.

  4. A parure does not mean you HAVE to wear every piece all at once. You can pick and choose which pieces to wear when.
Dear Max, how much better you would have looked if you had left the necklace at home and if you must bling bling that much, just added a few dangly bits to the earings instead.

I'd have to disagree in this case. Historically, when kings and queens hosted groups of the diplomatic representatives of other countries in their homes, it was customary to wear as much royal finery and jewels as possible as a show of power and wealth of the host country. Granted that such displays are unnecessary these days, but on the basis of history and tradition, Maxima hasn't put a foot wrong wearing her full parure. If this had been a private event of a different nature, her choices could have been different.

Lovely elegant dress, but I do so agree with you. The dress itself has so much bling bling already. But well Máxima is never "less is more" and will never be. It's probably south-american cause the Dutch royals were always very modest/sober in their way of dressing

I disagree about it being South American. She almost exclusively dresses in Benelux designers - and Princesses Beatrix, Laurentien and Mabel are not what I would necessarily call sober in their fashion choices.

      I do agree.
Also the red band is unnecessary
, just put there to make the colour in the tiara match with the peach dress.
Always overdone and júst to much, that is always a pity,

May I ask you if you experienced first - hand that South Americans wear 'bling bling dresses' or is that just something you imagine?
I happen to meet South- Americans as well but I do not remember seeing them wearing excessive or over the top clothes.
I think it is something related to Maxima's own personal taste.

  5. Queen Maxima always looks fabulous at gala events and this is no exception. Personally I think the parure looks wonderful in its entirety and the whole effect is glamorous and elegant. I also like Queen Beatrix' outfit - the silk is beautiful.

Well that is Maxima like we know her the best. Many pieces of jewelry. Colors we would not dare to wear together : orange, wine red. I like the dress on itself but with subdued accessories it would have looked better. Princess Beatrix has a lovely ensemble of tunic and flared pants. Love the color & fabric. This oriental inspired suit could be a good idea for Camilla.

Sorry I have to apologize I saw it too late that Princess Beatrix was not wearing pants but a long skirt. Very beautiful anyway.

It's rare these days (other than for a bride at a wedding), to see royalty wearing an evening gown with a long train, so I shall take the opportunity to delight in this beautiful example of such a gown. The apricot rose colour is charming and the chiffon drapes beautifully over the rich stain underneath. The floral appliqué embellishments are tasteful and the ribbon around the waist provides the perfect focus. Maxima looks lovely in it.

Out of context, Princess Beatrice might look like like she is wearing a theatre costume, but within the context of this diplomatic mission event that The Netherlands is hosting, and the country's long association with parts of SE Asia, I'm guessing that her outfit has greater meaning and significance. The colours and threadwork of this intricate ethnic fabric are outstanding. The two piece style of the outfit is also something that she is very comfortable wearing and it suits her.

Love Max’s entire ensemble, surprised how pretty the rubies and red accessories look with the coral color of the gown (not a combination I would have thought of). Only thing I would change is to get rid of the train on the dress. Seems overdone and unnecessary. Her look is already super formal and queenly.

Beatrix is also looking regal and dressed for a party, the best I’ve seen her in a long while. Love her choice of tiara! S.M.

Maxima does white tie like no other royal. She seems to have been born for it. This is no exception.

    1. I agree. She clearly was born to be draped in jewels. Large, sparkly jewels!

  10. I disagree with some of the comments. I don't think the color of the dress looks good on her and doesn't fit her well, especially from the waist up, it looks tight and wrinkled.. She'd look better without the red belt and huge necklace, but the tiara is amazing. More is more for Maxima!

Elegance and style. Also like the Tiaras and the rest of the jewelry.

  12. Queen Maxima looks very regal and elegant. Though I don't like this gown, she looks fabulous, it suits her perfectly. I do love her diamond and ruby jewels, really swoon worthy!, her up style looks great and makeup on point. Princess Beatrix looks lovely in her outfit, the color combination is very pretty, love her pearl accessories.

Beautiful dress, bit tight around the bust and back, tailoring could have been better. Loving the parure set.

Oh wow! Queen Maxima at her stunning best. She looks just fabulous. The dress, the hair, the jewellery are all magnificent. We’re used to seeing Princess Beatrix in darker colours so this vibrant berry red dress is a welcome change. Both ladies look wonderful

Máxima's tiara is not on straight. Crooked tiaras - and men's wonky ties - really bug me. *Regina

Perhaps the queen is wearing Burmese rubies as a nod to one of the countires represented.

Not a fan of the over the top dress, train, tiara, necklace and then all the red accessories. It was just a little too much. Princess B's dress was lovely, though I wasnt a fan of her crown. Queen M's makeup look too heavy and shiny. jj

Q.Maxima always hits the nail in the head when it comes to evening gowns.
    Absolutely gorgeous and majestic!
Maybe too much bling on display and yet everything suits her so well.
Breathtaking parure, the tangerine shade of her evening dress is a dream, even though it does not turn up unexpected as it is a nod to the Oranges once again.
