  1. If I dare, I would say Frederic should think of another position for his hands, here it affects all pictures.
From a fashion point of view, the queen's skirts have often signs of twisting or deformation.

What's wrong with his hands? I don't understand your opinion.

    2. I have no idea what you are talking about with regards Frederik's hands, seriously his hands are hands just like everyone else. I will say he looks dam sexy. Mary is very lucky.

I'm curious as well about what you see wrong with the placement of Fredrik's hands that 'affects all pictures'. His hands are placed in one of the standard neutral conventions for men and women when standing up. It's a sign of formality and manners, no?

    4. I'd say that, unexpectedly, the zip in Prince Frederik's trousers has broken.
He's doing his best to hide the problem.
Embarrassing moments like these can happen, you know, even amongst royals.
I've noted that the Foreign Minister is wearing brown shoes with his dark suit.
Prince Frederik did the same combo, that is, a dark suit with brown shoes, a few days ago at the opening of the Exhibition of the Queen's Jewellery Box.
      A new fashion?
p.s. the Queen is looking very smart in her ensemble and seems to be enjoying the occasion.

      What about his tie ?
Brown shoes and ordinary dark suits... not a new trend, it has always been in that part of the world CP Frederik lives in. His aussie wife changes him much, but I don't think, she will succes with that 😇.

😄😄deadeggs😄😄. Usually I think CP Frederik looks great but here his hair is rumpled, his tie askew- it gives him a rolled out of bed, sloppy look. The hands are not as noticeable to me as those but perhaps the formal hands together with this is what makes them seem so out of place.
Queen Margrethe is lovely, if a bit of a dark all over outfit, but I actually prefer her hair softer, less tightly pulled back.

Good grief and great balls of fire! What on earth is wrong with the way Fred has his hands folded in front of him? Psychologically that suggests insecurity with an appearance in public, but that is no big deal. - Guys, have a look at the Madeline in New York-post one row down on the page. You will find 3 of 4 people holding their hands folded in front of them, 2 of them women, and nobody suggested zippers had failed or skirts were torn to hide a tear or something similar. - This should be shocking in this world? I stand corrected; 4 out of 4 on the Madeline photos did it, Madeline included! Shock horror! Now what are we going to do? *distressed* - Ellie

      MaryT,
I believe the Queen’s skirts often look that way due to her chronic knee pain and I think also back issues which affect her posture. She clearly is a dedicated professional who continues on with her work in spite of it with her engaging smile. Often during the longer events like the New Year’s levees she will sit in a chair as she continues to do her Royal duties.

  2. Keeping arms, and de facto hands, along the body gives a more positive and elegant attitude, like the Minister, rather than hands closed on top of each other. What shocks me here is 4 times the same position.

It is very difficult to know what to do with one's hands in these situations. Women have their handbags to fall back on. Charles uses his pockets, for example. I think Frederik looks more relaxed or comfortable than Dmytro Kuleba. In the 4th picture he looks like he is standing at attention. What you failed to mention is that in the last picture, Mr. Kuleba has his hands in the same position as Frederik. I don't know why you are shocked by "4 times in the same position", which is really 2 different positions. He is not a model. I don't think it was foremost on his mind to change hand positions so the pictures would look more interesting. Breaking it down, they are just two guys meeting each other that have to pose for the obligatory pictures with the Queen before the three of them can get down to business. I'm sorry. I just can't see this as a serious faux pas. ~d

  3. Frederik positionne ses mains normalement ; je ne vois pas ce qu'il y a dire - C’est Mary qui est son épouse ; Marie est sa belle-sœur puisque mariée à Joachim !

  4. Would you suggest he put one of his hands in his coat like Emperor Napoleon !

Lets be honest Frederick looks a mess.Queen Margrethe looks dressed for business;I like her jacket. The Ukraine minister is obviously wanting the support of Denmark in these trying times, maybe he needed to wear dark shoes with his dark suit.Frederick could put his hands behind his back like Winston Churchill.

If his hands were behind his back like Churchill, he would appear more ready to go to battle. Then, as Fitzhugh says, the Napoleon pose would work as well.

As for Frederik looking a mess, I think his hair was blown in the wind on his way over. Nothing more. It would have been nice if he had been told, but that is hardly his fault. The shoe color is acceptable now, whether it is our preference or not. ~d

As for Margrethe's 'skirts often having twisting or deformation'; she is 80 years old and has had two knee replacements, I believe, since the photos of her knees in the interview she gave in early January each show a scar typical after total knee replacement. She used to sit through January audiences some years back, and she is likely to remain affected permanently, as is typical with such surgeries. I for one will not complain if anyone of 80 has creases in their skirts or pants. - Ellie

    Are you for real?
Why is it so hard to just accept a little bit of harmless irony on royals?
Prince Frederick is dapper, but here, as on other occasions, he looks a tad " rolled out of bed".
Maybe he is shy or embarassed when performing official duties.
Then, no harm meant, hands position have nothing strange.
    Much ado about nothing.
