The Duchess of Cambridge sent a good luck message to the British team preparing for the “challenge of a lifetime” in the America’s Cup. Sir Charles Benedict Ainslie, CBE is an English competitive sailor. Ainslie is the most successful sailor in Olympic history. He won medals at five consecutive Olympics from 1996 onwards, including gold at the four consecutive Games held between 2000 and 2012.

The Duchess of Cambridge first met Ben Ainslie at the London 2012 Olympics, where he won his fourth gold medal and they worked together in 2014 for the launch of the UK's America's Cup bid. The Duchess visited the Ben Ainslie Racing headquarters in Portsmouth as part of her work with the 1851 Trust in 2015. She met with him again the following year for a training session on the water.

  3. The Duchess of Cambridge is looking beautiful as always.
Though this is a rare miss for me, because this is a very girlie style imho.

  4. She looks good but, for me, this theme-dressing has become boring and somewhat irritating.... white+blue stripes for every single sailing-related occasion, white+red for any Canadian-related engagement, military style for anything even remotely connected to army/war/remembrance/veterans, green in Ireland, red in Wales.... and so on and so forth.... She must have sections of wardrobe dedicated to each theme. Once or twice it is OK, and it is appreciated, but repeating this pattern endlessly shows a bit of a stereotype approach and lack of imagination as well - in my opinion that is.

Good luck to Sir Ainslie and his team! Make us proud!

    1. I tend to agree. Theme dressing for a video is a lot. I think there can be other ways, at times, to give a nod to your host on a visit. Wearing clothes from a local company is a nice way instead of dressing in a "color", for instance.

  5. Like this jacket with the orange zippers and then the surprise of the bright red facing, both colors pop on the navy blue background.

  7. She is, in fact, wearing the uniform of the team, of whose foundation she is patron. I wouldn't call it "theme-dressing," more fund-raising, as you can buy the jacket to support the team financially. It's appropriate for her role with the organization and she looks fine.
