One of the most exciting days of the year for children! How exciting for them to get dressed up. They look adorable. Madeleine is a very pretty Catwoman!

All very cute and adorable !! A reflection is that Adrienne does not resemble of any of the others, in contrast to Nicholas and Leonore, you can really tell that they are siblings.

And of course Madeleine herself does not resemble either Victoria or Carl Philip. I wonder whom a fourth child in either family would have taken after. ~Laurel~

Madeleine and Victoria do resemble each other. The colouring is different but if you see their black and white photos their eyes are jawline are particularly similar - Az

@8:15pm - Haha, that would be wonderful, because years ago Princess Madeleine was being touted as a prospective bride for Prince William. ~Laurel~

Anna, it was not very long ago that this would have been a very real conversation, not in jest. That is what I find creepy.

Actually, this is how royal and other high-society families work. They look for suitable matches within their own ranks. It's just the way things are done. I think the rest of us stay on our own "level" as well. ~Laurel~

    6. I'm well aware of dynastic marriages amongst royals and nobles. But just like the Indian Caste System, I don't think these institutions should exist in a modern day society. Look at the Hapsburgs or even the marriage of Lady Diana and Princes Charles or Queen Sofia and Juan Carlos...

My point however was more focused on how ideally we should let children grow up and figure themselves out first before we enforce any expectations, especially romantic expectations. The focus should be that Princess Leonore will grow up to be a kind, intelligent, and self assure woman. Her potential suitors, her value as a wife, or girlfriend, shouldn't be the main focus. It reduces her value as a girl and human being to down to whom she will marry.

  7. Princess Adrienne's costume is particularly precious. A Swedish princess wearing a plastic crown. Too cute! Both of my nieces have the same exact crown so I guess they are princess-like too!

In view of the recent death of a close relative (Queen Silvia's brother Walther Sommerlath) Madeleine shouldn't have posted this picture publically, and, if so, without herself showing up.

This is not very tasteful and doesn't show due respect.

I don't find anything distasteful in posting this pic. I'm glad she shared the photo. Children are always so great to see even during the lowest times of people's lives.
BTW Madeleine's father and sister were all smiles when they were at the opening of the bridge on October 25th.
'm sure they all mourn the loss. I'm sure they are sad. People just don't have to show it and be miserable all the time.
And this is not very tasteful to whine all the time. Life goes on whether we want it or not.

@anon 8:27 You don't think this is very tasteful? Seriously?
Maybe it was her uncles wish that they remember him by continuing to celebrate with smiles.
Or that Madeleine might mourn her uncle privately but knows how important it is to celebrate these times with her young children and to share their fun and joy.
Everyone on both sides of the photo needs a smile these days, and that does not mean disrespect to the deceased.

Its so great to see Madeleine and her children again. Its been crazy year for all of us. Its especially hard for people who are far-far away from their families. But keep up, stay safe and try to live as normal life as possible.

I hope everyone had a fang-tastic evening! Children enjoy this time so much. (although I think Adrienne is not impressed, but Leonore and Nicolas are all beaming smiles. How tall they've grown.)

It must be fun for the children - what's quite good - and probably for her. The outfits in this case I do not care. But what I really miss, is a fine feeling for what is appropriate to show and what not. This are outstanding times, and she is still a princess of her homecountry, not 'only' a mother with her children. The same was with the holliday of the Dutch Royal Family. They can celebrate in private, and celebrate that they can be safe in there mansion, but it is not the right time to communicate this holy joly in public. Not in her position.

What else, than comfort to people and understanding could they deliver in the modern times? Noting else. And so, they have to reflect about it and about their roles. I must say.

I was waiting for comments like this. You do not care for the costumes? That is what Halloween is all about. These are very tame costumes. If this disturbs you, I suggest you don't look any further into the subject of Halloween costumes. You would need to reach for the smelling salts. Many adults dress up more elaborately than the children do and have their own parties. A lot of parents dress up along with their kids. I think it is wonderful. Please remember that she is not recognized as a princess in the US. She is a mom here, celebrating a very exciting day with her children. Trick-or-Treating was not encouraged, and in some places it was banned due to obvious health concerns. Anything Madeleine could do to make the day special for the kids gets kudos from me. Childhood should not be put on hold or come to an end because of outside circumstances. Nor should the children be treated differently than their friends because of who their mother is in another country. Childhood is a very short season. It is incumbent upon the adults in their lives to see to it that every ounce of it has been celebrated, while they privately deal with the adult issues.

From Joann: Where I live in the U.S., I didn't get any trick-or-treaters this year. Maybe they all had private gatherings or something. Anyway, I liked the photo and I don't think children should be deprived of their holidays. (For some reason, my mind jumped back to the time when Princess Diana was on a ski vacation with her two sons when her father died. She immediately boarded a plane to return home, but she left the boys to continue their skiing. ) Regarding Madeleine, my personal view is Madeleine was respecting her position as Princess by sharing photos of her children with her home country. Private citizens have the luxury of being "private", but public figures, in my opinion, in most instances, do not. Halloween is a big deal for kids - with the costumes , etc. and I think Madeleine is acknowledging that. Children will grow up soon enough and have to forego celebrations. On another subject, maybe it was the all-black look, but I thought Madeleine looked thin to me. Of course, heavy or thin, Madeleine is one of those fortunate women who always looks great.

Very adorable. I think the youngest will look like madeleine more, son has more of his father look, and the oldest is a blend of both parents. Just my humble opinion.

  14. The kids look great. I'm not a great fan of Halloween and I think that part of the problem is that it is rather new to us in Europe. Maybe we'll get used to it.
The closest we have in England and the Commonwealth is Guy Fawke's night (05 Nov). Other European countries ??????
Change of subject, if I may dear moderator. .
I have never understood how Princess Madeleine and her husband didn't get ripped to bits by the media for their great escape from a Royal life in Sweden to an everyday common life in America.
For me, I think the media found that Meghan and Harry made big bucks for them and used them to no end to boost their financial profits.
Don't see much difference in Princess Madeleine's situation to that of Harry and Meghan's.
Obviously, Princess Madeleine's great escape didn't help with media profits.
But then that's another story for another day.

From Joann: Dear deadeggs - Your question is interesting. I would say there are several differences between the couples. First off, Madeleine was never as high profile a royal as Harry, so I don't think the press followed her as much. And since her brother is ahead of her in the line of succession and performs royal duties, I don't think Madeleine's absence is felt that much. And, as the youngest child of the King, I'm not sure how much was expected of her in the way of royal work. Also, she married someone who declined a title, preferring to continue his career. Harry, on the other hand, married an actress, with a public profile of her own because of her acting career. Both Meghan and Harry remained public figures, with royal duties. Harry's absence is keenly felt because of his popularity, his connection to Princess Diana and the expectation he would help with the royal workload of his brother, the future king. .But Madeleine and her husband live a very private life, which doesn't attract media attention. Writing about them will most likely not translate into newsstand sales and profits. The public has been following Harry since he was born. Outside of Sweden (and Europe), no one has heard of Madeleine until she became an adult. The world cannot forget the image of a young Harry following his mother's coffin. The public and the press, I believe, are having a hard time letting go of him. At the end of the day, the media knows all this and it's down to a commercial decision..

Why Madeleine and Chris should be ripped to bits because they decided to live in America? They are free people. Many minor members live outside of their Realm, and no one complains.
Madeleine wanted to be there for her children like many women do. She also work with the World Childhood Foundation.
The King has decided that he and The Crown Princess are, together with The Queen and Prince Daniel, Sweden’s highest representatives. So Carl Philip and Madeleine are to perform official duties to the extent decided by The King.
Neverless Madeleine gets lots of negative press from the Swedish media. So why anyone is surprised that she'd rather choose more private life than being constantly under attack and followed by the press?
Personally I hope that Madeleine will move back to Sweden. Time will tell if she will be taking more official duties once the children are older and if she's expected to be back. She certainly attract lots of attention and I really miss seeing her more often! I hope she will not fade away into the backround. Swedish Royal Family is not the same without her.

  15. Actually, there is a resemblance between little Adrienne and Leonore. But their eyes are completely different, and perhaps that makes it more difficult for some to spot the resemblance. Sweet family photo.
