Last week, on March 11, Queen Elizabeth II received the Order of St John’s Service Medal in Gold. At Buckingham Palace, Lord Prior of the Order of St John, Professor Mark Compton presented the first ever golden medal to the Queen, who is Sovereign Head of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. |
The Service Medal of the Order is awarded to volunteers and other eligible persons who perform properly recorded qualifying service over a requisite period of years. It was first introduced in 1885 and is the only British medal currently in use that depicts the head of Queen Victoria. The Order of St John is a Royal Order of Chivalry first constituted as such by Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1888. |
Different from her usual dresses but lovely. New style of shoes too.

Such a stunning dress and such cheery colors!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteI don’t think the colors are very flattering on Her Majesty, but I admire her taking a chance on the style. I don’t ever remember seeing her in a color blocked style before. Joanne
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dress. So youthful with this wonderful combination of colours
ReplyDeleteWonderfull colored dress!
ReplyDeleteLove it/ her, at 93!
Die Queen schaut wirklich großartig aus !!
DeleteWonderful! How courageous in terms of fashion! We can all learn from her Majesty :-)))))
ReplyDeleteUnusual indeed. I like a refreshing new design, but unfortunately I don´t think the outcome here is very successful. Those two colours look very jarring together, and the arrangement of the colour blocking feels rather uninspired. Very square. The horizontal line for instance had looked better if it had been closer to her waist rather than her hips.
ReplyDeleteI lover this on the Queen! Different, yes, but that's good. A good chance to take. Modern and I do think it's flattering. She looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress. The Queen is rocking the color-block look. Fun and a departure from her usual.

Great look for HM,but then she is always classy.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, special dress.
ReplyDeleteSehr schick und fesch die Queen !!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress, M'am! Scarlett Witch
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see her. The Queen is always a class act. Today is St Patrick's day, sadly no parade's no nothing. The health of the people is more important. Happy St Patrick's day everyone.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I cannot think of fashion. I can only think how inconsiderate of all royals who feel somehow entitled to ignore the advice of medical professionals and set an awful example. Terrible.

Pretty certain she knows if she has COVID 19. He's the one who is the question - in her home. Not doing anything that goes against advice in the UK. That looks like it's changing now so maybe what the Queen does will.
DeleteThe picture is taken a week ago!
DeleteDevelopments are very vast.
She comes from a world war generation, they have tough mindsets and serve to others comes first. Besides, hands were washed.

As others have said, it's a very different look for Her Majesty, but color block is a style that most women can wear successfully at any age, I think. Diagonal lines and softer colors might have been more flattering, but basically this works, imo. It just takes some getting used to on this particular wearer 🙂.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bright colours, suits the Queen well. Love the addition of the pearl necklace and gorgeous brooch. Beautifully groomed.
ReplyDeleteVery impressed. Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ looks great.
ReplyDeleteBelle allure avec ces couleurs vives qui lui vont à merveille ; j'aime beaucoup ses boucles d'oreilles et collier de perles, sa petite broche que j'aurais aimé voir de plus près !
