On February 25, 2020, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain had two engagements at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. The King and Queen first received the Board of Directors of Atresmedia on the occasion of their 30th anniversary. Atresmedia is one of the main communication groups in Spain. It is an audiovisual company in the television, radio, internet, cinema, third-party production and training sectors. (Queen Letizia wore a new floral print blouse by Indi and Cold.)

What I like about Letizia is the fact that often, like on this occasion, she is wearing quite unremarkable clothes, which she makes elegant. Her excellent posture and very high heels make these outfits. I know that many women dislike heels, but like it or not, heels improve every outfit...

  2. She always looks lovely but I happen to think that when they receive guests at the palace she should not dress so casually. It's special for them.

Not really!! "Audiencias" are not at a palace, they do not live in a palace, Zarzuela is called like that because Juan Carlos and Sofia live there, the palaces in Spain belong to the State and you can visit them, they are public. Zarzuela is a former hunting cottage. In fact, Letizia and Felipe live near Zarzuela in a house.

Not right? Is the Queen who sets the protocol, not the other ones, you must follow her, not the other way round. Back in the day when she stopped eating everybody had do the same.
In Spain even curtsies have been abolished, nobody curtsys anymore.

In Spain people in general is not very interested in her clothes, they think that she should promote Spanish brands and austerity. So most of the time Felipe and Letizia follow this rule. Only in very special events she wear jewerly or expensive brands.

The Queen sets the protocol so she decides the rank. The "audiencias" always have a low protocol.

    2. Millie, I agree with you and with dellbabe68above. Whether or not Queen Letizia "sets protocol" for such audiences is not entirely the point. The photos seem to show that from the pov of her guests, an audience with the king and queen is a very special thing indeed (as it would be for most of us). Letizia's outfit, though pretty (I adore her blouse), is decidedly casual compared to the attire of the other ladies, even the lady in the elegant ivory pantsuit and dressy earrings. Letizia always looks attractive, but none of the royal ladies gauge things perfectly 100% of the time.

People tends to dress up sometimes. So you think that the other ones know more than a person who lives with the protocol every day?
It is not a ver "special" thing, it is a time to chat with them as normal persons, too much formality is not what the Spanish Monarrchy wants every day. As other one pointed out, there are not curtsys anymore.
For formal ocasions she dresses in other way.

Bajo mi punto de vista, ella parece más cercana de esta manera que toda emperifollada. Es la forma en que Felipe ha señalado su reinado, cercanía con la gente.

Beautiful, comfortable, feminine, neither over- nor underdressed, very nice to look at. Shoes could have been flatter.

  6. Queen Letizia looks gorgeous, as usual, but, perhaps, her attire is a bit too casual. I see no other women in slacks. I am amused by photo number 6 in which the woman behind the Queen is looking down at Letizia's feet. Is she wondering "how does she walk in such high heels?" I wonder that too.

It is not likely to happen soon (though, who knows ?) but I really wish this style of spiky killer shoes went out of fashion. I don't think it flatters the foot at all. Torturing shoes have a long story in fashion I know.

  9. Un haut imprimé fleuri que je verrais bien plus coloré avec un léger décolleté en V ; même si les escarpins sont hauts, Letizia les porte à merveille !

I think she look so very chic and approachable, as well as promoting Spanish fashion firms, the casual look is not "casual" these morning meetings are a way to get the regular people drawn to the Crown in a close-up manner. Queen Letizia dresses in a more formal manner when the occasion calls for it. I agree that wearing extremely high heels for very long periods is just bad for your feet and back, however she is not walking miles on them, or running thru the streets to catch the bus, a couple of hours on these stilettos and then she can change into comfy shoes. I have to wear sensible shoes on my daily rounds, but whenever I can, I pull my gorgeous shoes and wear them as much as my feet would tolerate.
    Love my high heels 👠

Beautiful ensemble on Letizia. She really knows how to combine different parts. And her posture is perfect, even very modest clothes looks great on her.-Siri

The Queen can do no wrong fashion wise. Although today's outfit is chic and relatable, it hovers somewhere between the school run and a parent/teacher meeting. The earrings would belong to me in a closet raid. Always nice to see how the ladies wear versions of outfits that the queen owns.MB

Hmmm. I am not sure about this outfit. What is it? Business casual? Fully casual? The top looks like the shirts one would work around those doing chores. And then she pairs that with 4’’ stilettos. As I said, not sure what her intentions were as she picked her out these pieces. Chrissy

High heels force your body to have better posture, as well as being very flattering to the line of the leg. All of us who do wear heels know that our posture is better in heels than in flats. Letizia does have great posture to begin with, only to be improved in her heels.

  16. This is a beautiful outfit, very pretty and feminine. The Queen looks so elegant. Gorgeous blouse, the pants look fantastic with this top. Love the earrings. She looks terrific.

  17. I don't think Letizia looks under at all. I like how she went with slimmer pants with the loose top, a well balanced look. Beautiful earrings.
