Yes, it is quite bad. I appreciate queens (Elizabeth, Sonja, Silvia, Letizia) who realize their position and take the time to look well-groomed and classy.

  3. Maxima, I respect your work and your dark suit is nicely professional but, please, put your hair up.

    1. I agree! I don’t understand why she can’t just brush hair back into a pony tail. She can certainly afford to purchase a collection of nice pony tail holders.

Okay, sie hatte einen langen Flug, aber das ist keine Entschuldigung. Sie ist die Königin der Niederlande. Ein bisschen mehr Etikette/Contenance, bitte.
    Was wohl Beatrix darüber denkt?

      Sehe ich auch so.
It´s not just that she clearly didn´t comb her hair, but it actually looks severly damaged and neglected. That unkempt look is unfit for a queen or any official representative.

I would love to see her cut it, maybe a chin length bob with a little shape.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4
year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally
off topic but I had to tell someone!

    2. Anonymous at 12.29AM: I absolutely understand you! My 4year old is now 37, the other 4year old is 30! I am a Granny, ha! So, it's cute to share your lovely moment with us. Time is running, I promise you. Enjoy - and never forget those sweet moments...

Queen Maxima should stay in her freshly restaurated home with the beautiful surroundings and should do the same. She simply looks tired and unkempt. And maybe her little one is missing her Mother. Take care, dear!

    3. How cute! Many greetings to you and your children and never stop searching for shells!

I don”t mind about the length of her hair, it’s rather that she didn’t use a comb right before she started to the engagement. Her mother in law, Princess Beatrice’s hair is always impeccable. I have always seen the princess with perfectly fitting hair.

CP Victoria of Sweden is often criticized for her hairdo, her strength bun. But in this case I really prefer CP Victoria’s boring bun instead of today’s hairdo of the Dutch Queen.
Nevertheless both, the Dutch Queen as the Swedish Crown Princess are both doing an excellent job

  9. I do like her traveling outfit, it's refreshing to se her without all the accessories. I do agree
However, that a simple low pony tail, or a properly placed headband could go wonders for her appearance.

The blouse and suit go well together.

Other than that, I am in awe at this lady's commitment and dedication to the national AND International causes and organizations she represents. 'Busy' doesn't even come near adequate description for this hard working woman. Well done Max!

She’s an extraordinarily hard working woman and I admire her energy and commitment. But sometimes the fashion side falls short. The suit looks fine. I don’t understand the pantyhose with the shoes at all. And her hair looks like she just got out of the shower. Even a pretty barrette or pony tail would improve it, and it would only take a second to do. (V.M.)

  12. Aside from the hair problem, the stockings look terrible. This is an outfit that should be worn with bare legs. She has been wearing these stockings with a shimmer instead of nude stockings that disappear. This is a case where they look even worse than usual. I do like her outfit, sans stockings, and do wish we would see her like this more often.

For long flights special flight stockings are often recommended - and believe me most often they are neither fashionable nor good-looking. Even I'm saying this, I nust confess that I do not like shiny stockings.

    2. As Queen Maxima has just come off a long haul flight she may be wearing flight compression stockings and she is also wearing flat shoes - all for comfort and safety. Her hair really is her own business - it doesnt bother her so why do so many people get aerated about it. I like her suit and blouse - she is a hard working woman and travels a lot - I admire her greatly

    4. @ 10:46. Not disagreeing with you that she is a hard working woman, but this is a fashion blog, and most of us enter here to talk about that, otherwise we will be participating in other forums. There is nothing wrong with the statement that her hair is a disaster, because being well groomed is something one expects from any official, and in no way is an attack. There are physical things that can't be changed, height, body shape, etc, but hair can be taken care of, I am sure that she can afford a personal assistant, since I don't think she does her own housekeeping, or she can run a comb thru her hair and put in a pony tail before she arrives to a foreign country. If she is wearing compression hose, which I doubt, since she favors the shiny ones at all times, they can easily be removed, and replaced with "no show" socks before arrival.
Once again, this is not a derogatory comment, but an observation, I am personlly puzzled by the fact that Máxima is not precisely a thrifty queen, she wears expensive clothing and fabulous jewelry, so having a hair stylist on hand won't cost her much more monthly that a designer dress.
Respectful critique should be welcomed, as it's just a form of dialogue and civil debate.
      Regards

  13. I really like her casual shoes, the pants are too short, and the hair resembles that of a teenager's, who is too busy to comb it.

Pants too short, shiny awful stockings, and that hair! Not matter how busy she is, her appearance is terrible. She's a queen, act and dress like one!.

  16. IMO she looks so nice with this outfit, simple and comfortable.
I also would love to see her hair in a diferente way, and yes i also agree that just a simple pony tail will make a huge difference.
But the shoes, I really love that shoes, I don't even care about the brightening socks, the shoes are so different from their usually that it looks perfect with all the look.

  22. I wonder what time she landed. It's possible that she wasn't expecting a welcoming committee at the airport. But look at that face. Hair aside, she is so gracious and genuine, that I can excuse her just about anything.

The queen arrived after a long journy and looked very very tired on other photo’s. This was not official (
Thatsthe next morning), but they wanted to welcome her anyway.

  25. If Queen Elizabeth can always look impeccable at age 93 I do not see why the much younger Maxima cannot.
