    1. Yes...but don't you think, their performance are always boring. I love Masako and respect with all she has done.

    2. It is the oldest hereditary monarchy in the world, dated 660 BC therefore with very rich culture.Studying literature of my own country I can see that Western and Eastern have strongly effected each other.Their sculpture, music, architecture and art of course are very interesting to me.
I suppose we know too little about Japanese royalties and their world after all.

  2. I do not think they're perfect in looks. A more boring royal family is not to be found, even the young Japanese ladies have these utterly boring and unfashionable suits. I don't get it. Is it unsuitable for the Japanese royal girls to catch up with time and fashion? I honestly don't think (or hope) that they dress this way privately.

  3. Yes. Because they are different, they are not always flashed on the news much. I would love to see them in their traditional dresses.

  4. No offence meant but she looks like she's wearing a chamberpot on her head. Their culture is of course very different from that of the Western world, I think they are more respectful of tradition etc., but that's about all it means. Her outfit is nice except for the pisspot.

    1. Ha ha ha, you make me laugh - the pisspot! But anyway, the colour of her suit becomes her.

  5. The imperial family of Japan plays in an entirely different league, fashionwise, than the european monarchies. It's way of working is so very different too from what we see in Europe that there is just no place for comparison.
I'd love to see Michiko, her daughter and the rest of the ladies in chic day- and eveningwear but I know it's not going to happen. In their world their clothing makes perfect sense however so that's what I try to focus on.

  7. I think as Westerners we have to be careful in attempting to impose our values on other cultures. Just because certain ways of dress and traditions are found in different countries, does not mean the Japanese should feel compelled to adopt them. I know many Americans who have spent time in Japan and they bring their own dress and culture with them. And the Japanese don't seem to mind.
