On the evening of 29 September 2026, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill attended a concert by the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at Stockholm Concert Hall. The concert was held on the occasion of the opening of the 2026/27 Riksdag session (Swedish Parliament).
For the occasion, Queen Silvia wore a mist-blue silk coat dress by Georg et Arend. She also wore this coat dress at Prince Gabriel’s christening in 2017. Crown Princess Victoria wore a floral dress by Acne Studios. Princess Madeleine wore a lace-trimmed floral satin midi dress by British brand Self-Portrait. Princess Sofia wore a silk maxi dress in a shade somewhere between chocolate brown and dark Bordeaux by Danish brand Day Birger et Mikkelsen.
Sofia wins here, along with the Queen. In this case, less is more

DeleteQueen Silvia regularly appears in the same outfits for the events which take place every year, but she really manages to look elegant and chique at her age.
ReplyDeleteThe black dresses with big flowers of her daughters remind me of the dresses worn by gypsy women. Gypsy women also wear scarfs with red flowers printed on a plain black ground. The best outfit is Princess Sofia's aubergine dress or skirt and blouse ? The model's shirt or bodice looks different than Princess Sofia's. Also the colour is different but difficult to see and could be influenced by the sharp light of the cameras. Christopher O'Neill never smiles.
That rich wine/brown color looks fantastic on Princess Sofia!

ReplyDeleteOn Carl Philip I think the trousers could have been a few centimeters longer - but he's always well dressed. Daniel seems to have his eternal favourite in the blue suits.. Sofia looked really chic in this.
I am a big Silvia fan - but so much shiny grey ... like packed up in *and* shiny grey - a bit like packed up in kitchen foil or poured over with liquid silver. I don't think it is good for anybody. - If I have to choose a winner,, then it is Victoria's dress - minus the extremely high neckline. So unflattering in general and even more for such a long dress. I don't like Madeleine's (big flower directed at her crotch area and too much flowers and lace and whatnot) and also not Sofia's gown (a sad one, even if shiny). So nothing really good here for me ...
ReplyDeleteI don’t love the Self Portrait dress. For me with the beautiful fabric it would be very glamourous, or throw in one fancy extra - but the lace on the hem and the flounced hem shaping and the puffed sleeve and the neck tie is much too much too much. I love the other three royal women’s outfits, each very nice in themselves but above all suiting the wearer very well. Victoria is becoming a poster child for me in finding motivation to train my muscles more as I age. She is in fabulous shape. Note to self: find a personal trainer to marry ;-)

ReplyDeleteSofia for me is not the best with this brown and slinky fabric. Yes this is the style and she has the figure for it, however not necessarily a fit. The queen always well dressed, and the two princess have well fitting dresses. Chris thank you for combing your hair. The king as always impeccable fit.
