  1. The paisley print of Sophie's dress is lovely. It's an interesting feature that the border is a different fabric & colour from the rest of the dress. I like how the bottom of the sleeves, the belt and the placket utilized a different part of the fabric pattern and created some contrast. The designer did a great job making a unique dress.

I am afraid this dress displays a lot of features that I personally don't like on anyone - and that Sophie is very fond of: short puff sleeves, self belt, allover pattern (especially overwhelming on a shirtwaist dress, without showing a bit of skin, e.g. with an open neckline and of course: shorter hem).

I completely agree and it seems the Duchess has closets and closets full of these dresses!

It’s not for you then 19:12! (But I think Sophie looks really well in it.)

@02:45, yes it is not for me and I know very well that there are people who like this style - it is not only Sophie. But I think at second thought, it is a bit more than just individual taste, let me explain. Short puff sleeves: look nice on small girls, but for adult women, they can be kind of just bulky and not sweet at all. Then: buttoned through the whole front with self-belt style: both remind me of house dresses made so simple as possible, without the tiniest grade of refinement. Especially the self-belt suffers from this "simplicity": compare the model photo (frozen posture, no motion, with carefully arranged "frozen" self belt) with Sophie's belt in real life ... just a piece of fabric tied in her middle. That's why I tend to say: a cheap kind of dress, as far as design is concerned.

@00:31, "closets full of these dresses" - very same dress, other colour/pattern: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2025/11/the-duchess-of-edinburghs-visit-to.html. , and some more Lexy dress with puff sleeves, allover pattern and self belt: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/07/the-duchess-of-edinburgh-visits-royal.html puff&ruffed sleeves tiered-ruffed skirt, allover pink pattern: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/07/the-duchess-of-edinburgh-visits-royal.html . Clearly, she likes this style a bit too much. ..

Lovely colour for her. I would prefer it a bit shorter, perhaps with a narrower band, however it is okay as is. Nice and summery

They look beautiful together, Sophie and Edward. Their colourings so well match each other and these blue shades. Late summer real loveliness.

Interesting that Lexy shows the model wearing sneakers with the dress. It’s become such a norm to wear a dress with sneakers at least here in Europe and I love it. You get to wear a pretty comfy dress on top and really comfortable shoes you can move fast in / be on your feet all day comfortably down bottom.

A lovely, uncomplicated dress that pleases my eye and looks great on Sophie, in my opinion. Is it ideal? Who knows. But it is a dress very similar in style to other dresses Sophie wears, which says that it is the style she is comfortable with. I like simple, uncomplicated beauty with low fuss. - Ellie

Agree Ellie! I liked your question Is it ideal? And your answer Who knows? And your conclusion: she’s comfortable. That’s approximately the sum of logical fashion critiques!

Fashion critic is not really invented to suppress critical remarks by making harmless pleasant remarks that have nothing to do either with fashion or with being critical.

The Duke looks sensational in his white trousers with blazer and pale blue shirt. Dark belt stands out nicely. Why couldn't Sophie have worn the female version of this outfit? She really could take styling tips from her husband and come out ahead.

Dici?

Well I think she has. Light blue, simple, comfortable, they look very well matched.

When the weather was not so hot yet, Sophie wore light beige linen blazers and pants or a skirt and shirt blouses. She received comments too. Not that I like what she is wearing here. I remember she has better summer dresses than this one which can be worn in high temperatures. Lexy London is a brand whose design I don't like very much.

She is comfortable, no doubt about that. The difference is: The Duke of E. is always elegant. Here, he is clearly casually dressed - but nevertheless elegant. The Duchess of E. simply does not seem to possess the "gene" for classic elegance (which can be very well casual too). And I think being elegant is part of the role the play and part of the usual expectation. I at least don't expect them to be "like one of us". Because they are not.

    Buon Ferragosto a tutti 🍹

I have no idea when she has cut her hair, but it is definitely a change long overdue. She looks great with this hair style.
