Lady Sarah Chatto's son, Samuel Chatto, has officially announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Eleanor Ekserdjian. Samuel and Eleanor, both artists who live together in London, shared the news in a joint Instagram post accompanied by a series of black-and-white photographs. Samuel's caption read, "I'm really delighted to say that Ellie and I are engaged. And we couldn't be happier."
The photos also included an image of Eleanor showing off her porcelain engagement ring. Samuel confirmed that he proposed with a porcelain ring he made himself. The couple have been together since 2021. Buckingham Palace said that the couple's families were "delighted" by the news and that King Charles was "very happy for them both." The palace also announced that the wedding would take place "next spring."
Samuel Chatto, who is 30th in the line of succession to the British throne but does not undertake official royal duties, is known to have met his fiancée, Eleanor, while they were studying at the University of Edinburgh. Eleanor's father, Professor David Ekserdjian, is an art history professor at the University of Leicester, while her mother, Susan Moore, is an art critic for the Financial Times.

What an interesting ring. Correct me if my assumption is wrong, but isn’t porcelain terribly fragile? Doesn’t sound like it will endure as is traditional (a gold ring precisely to endure a lifetime!); but it’s unusual and beautiful. I had not heard of him before but I wish this young couple all the best.
ReplyDeleteSamuel Chatto is a grandson of the long deceased Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
DeleteThanks DSC for the info.
Delete"Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon."
DeleteBoth she and his mother had GORGEOUS wedding dresses. It will be interesting to see what Eleanor Ekserdjian's style will be seeing as she's very much an artitist like him.
You often see Samuel’s mother, Lady Sarah Chatto, attending events like Christmas and Easter services, Ascot etc. She us first cousin to King Charles. Samuel and Ellie were at Sandringham last Christmas and more recently at the wedding of Peter and Harriet Phillips
DeleteHe is a ceramicist and designed the ring himself. According to one article ceramic rings are increasingly popular and are made of tungsten or tungsten carbide and so are hard wearing
Porcelain is indeed fragile. I love the ring. I assume her wedding band will be the traditional gold one and she will probably wear that on a daily basis. I haven't worn my engagement ring since we got married.

Charmant couple ; très délicate bague de fiançailles !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! He has a baby face, he looks at least 18, but no 29
ReplyDeleteYeah! He has serious baby face.
DeleteCongratulations to the engaged couple. A porcelain ring does not seem very durable to me, but perhaps it is not for daily wear.

Two creative individuals, on a life journey together. Interesting ring so unique and special to commemorate the occasion.
ReplyDeleteA charming and beautiful young couple! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI read that Samuel has made himself this ring. I have to say, that explains a lot, but still. I’m not impressed ðŸ¤
ReplyDeleteNot impressed? I’m super impressed that he has made the ring! Wow. I’d certainly fall for someone who put that much effort into asking me to marry him! Homemade for the big win.
DeleteI agree.
DeleteIt days like this when I REALLY miss that old site "The Royal Order of Satorical Splendor" (https://orderofsplendors.blogspot.com/). I would love hear the moderator's take on this ring. :D But, the important thing is, it was made with love (and I'm sure received with love), each has found their person/soul mate, and hopefully they will have a long and loving union. Cheers!
DeleteAnon 21:06. I so agree with you. That poster was awesome and so much fun. I do miss her too. I also agree with your sentiments about the ring.
DeleteCe couple d’artistes m’est tellement sympathique. Ils feront sûrement un mariage original. Josée.
ReplyDeletePrincess Margaret's grandson, how lovely. The ring is unique and unusual.
ReplyDeleteWell I am impressed. He loves her enough to do something special, something that has never been done before. I read somewhere that a 'normal' engagement ring will be worn and this kept as a special momento . How many people have been proposed to with a haribo jelly ring? Loads. Same thing but more personal
ReplyDeleteThe ring is lovely, Nice couple, I wish them well.
ReplyDeleteSer ut som att skolbalen är dagen därpå.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
