Queen Sonja of Norway is celebrating her 89th birthday today. Sonja Haraldsen was born in Oslo on 4 July 1937. She married Crown Prince Harald on 29 August 1968 and became Crown Princess of Norway, later becoming Queen in 1991 when her husband ascended the throne. King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway have two children, Princess Märtha Louise and Crown Prince Haakon, and six grandchildren.
The Royal Palace of Norway released a new photograph to mark Queen Sonja's birthday. The photograph was taken on 23 April during Queen Sonja's visit to the Spireverket organization outside Oslo's Sofienberg Church. Sonja is celebrating her birthday privately with her family.
