ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia has nice legs, but I am beginning to think her skirts are too short, riding up when sitting, exposing her knees. It seems old fashioned really.

Yes 13:50 it does seem a bit old fashioned to say her skirt is too short. Agree. I think it’s a perfectly elegant length, at the knee; seems a very nice and easy dress, relaxed but easily dressed up by a jacket. I love her shoes and see she gets good use out of them over the months.

DeleteAt 79, if I had legs like this beautiful I would show them off too. And her skirts are tasteful and NOT too short. Just because designers invented this long “frumpy type” of skirts as today’s trend, does not mean one has to follow it. Trends come and go. And this Queen is brave and bold to march to the beat of her own fashion drum. And I love her for this. She looks wonderful and cheerful. Let the younger royals drown in long floppy skirts.

Queen Silvia is her self with a jacket with summery colours and a elegant skirt.
Sofia is not wearing a dress but very wide trousers and a long blouse. I don't understand why black is a wrong color. Me myself love to wear black around the year, looks always good, long or short, narrow or wide. -Mirella

DeleteThe Queen looks lovely in these classic pieces with the jacket adding some needed color and interest. The King is in nice colors but the jacket looks like the wrong size (too big and long) on him. I have no idea what Sofia is wearing but it’s not flattering and the black color feels too dark for these annual summer concerts.

DeleteI like the queens outfit, perfect and comfortable looking. The princess in black, hmm maybe a lighter colour, but she looks fine. I do like the king’s jacket, colour fit, and especially the cuffs that are rolled up. Nice to so the young boys with the grandparents.

DeleteI'm 63 and proud of my waist length curly hair. No one, my family, friends, my hairdresser has said I'm too old. People in street have complimented me for not cutting it short. Who made it compulsory to have shorter hair as you age? 40 is not too old to have long hair
ReplyDeleteMany women cut their hair short simply because it is getting thin as we age. Cutting it short does not change that though, so I wear a shiny grey low ponytail or a bun at over 70 and find it better for me than short and permed for make-believe volume.

I must confess that this age thing just cracks me up.
It reminds me of some novels I have read dating back to the 19 th century, notably
" Madame Bovary".
Emma had a " flexible" age and died aged 27 years.
She seemed to never grow older (it was perceived like a curse) , no birthdays to celebrate as years went by .
Empress Sisi refused to be portrayed after she had turned 30 and later on she resorted to long black veils ( motivated by the death of two of her children, as well) or just a fan covering her face not to show her beauty fading away.
She was obsessed with age but , as a matter of fact, she kept a splendid figure till her tragic death (61 y.o).
Most women died aged 40 at the time, especially those born in disadvantaged conditions and forced to make humble jobs.
Nowadays ,saying that a woman has to cut her hair short after turning 40 sounds like utterly hogwash to me.
