Let's begin with the good news: the pale blue blouse is pretty. But alas, the wearer is not Countess Eloise. As for the cherry lace melodrama, I don't see any design, only fabric overflow, which is really not the same. The ladies in lilac and red wear, from the waistline upwards, also fabric surplusses without any recognisable design effort.

I’m not familiar with Countess Eloise but she’s a beautiful woman. She has the style to wear haute couture and I really love this outfit. The color and lace design are beautiful.

Eloise’s outfit is a beautiful color (and I wish I had the Countess’s enviable figure!),
but imo a long see-through skirt with matching shorts underneath is the opposite of elegance. If playfulness was the objective, it could have been achieved without wasting all that gorgeous lace! If the skirt had been fully lined with a matching satin or taffeta, I think the look could have been sensational.

What you suggest is old fashion like it was in the old days. Natan is a brand which always try to come with something no one else has done yet. You like it or you don't but Natan will almost always try to make popular a dress or a set which is unusual. After a number of years the other more traditional brands are trying to copy it. Exemple : they were the first to come with asymmetric sleeves or arrangements. Now others are trying to do the same, sometimes it looks good or even better, but sometimes it looks like a very bad replica.

I have seen similar long lace hiwns plus short pants in other collections already, usually as part of evening wear for young women.
These sorts of gowns are not conceived to be worn by older ladies, of course, that's why they might look weird or overly edgy.
Basically, they fall into the territory of
"party wear"-provided that this word exists- but that's the purpose they are designed for, actually.
They thoroughly depart from what you would expect to be classic evening wear.
It goes without saying that the wearer is supposed to have an
'envianble figure' and Countess Eloise is the best example.
Personally, I am not keen on the upper part but I love the lower half gently descending into the flower corolla shaped bottom.
I am iffy about the white sandals, black would have been my preference.
The colour of the gown is superb.
The other outfits shown in the pics are not to my liking.

The 23-year-old daughter of Princess Laurentien and Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands bears the official title Countess Eloise of Orange-Nassau, Jonkvrouwe van Amsberg. She was the first grandchild of Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus, and before the royal couple’s resignation, she was a member of the Dutch royal house. Since the accession of her uncle, King Willem-Alexander, and Queen Maxima, however, she has lost that standing, but remains a member of the royal family. I’ve google and copypaste…Maja

Queen Beatrix and her husband Prince Claus didn't abdicate. Prince Claus passed away and Queen Beatrix continued to be Queen alone. She finally abdicated for her son King Willem-Alexander.

Once again, I can't understand why so many royals love to wear Natan. Both red outfits are terrible, the short one with the caplet is risible and cheap looking, and the long one is a mish mash of lace, shorts, xtralong (and white shoes). A total miss.

Not everything of Natan's creations is worn by royals. There are the bespoke dresses and outfits which are made entirely according the wishes of the client. There is the ready to wear collection which is cheaper and usually worn by young and slim women.

The lace is nice but the design is … absent. Take a model, put her in shorts and a tshirt, wrap her in a length of lace, pin it together, and call it haute couture. The girl is beautiful, the garment is strange.

I don't like the dress (or whatever it is). Eloise looks like she got tangled in a burgundy curtain.
The model looks like a man.

I call it art versus fashion. Excessive fabric just draped, cape that looks cheap, perhaps the colour and texture combinations equals haute couture. Other than the blue top, the rest are just not to my taste. I can see how QM is influenced in her fashion choices. Seems like many affluent young wealth women are drawn to the fashion industry or influencers for bizarre looks and products.

I suspect the allure of this type of fashion is its edginess…and it works because the young woman is attractive, tall and thin.

      Exactly, @ Anonymous 00:43.
Edginess is the purpose imo and a fit body is what this sort of gowns is designed for.
Besides, I see intentional playful features such as the short pants and the see- through effect.
I think that's the kind of gown you may call
' take/ love it or reject it'.
It doesn't matter what the brand is, Natan or whatever.
These designs can be eadily found on the fashion markets nowadays.
'So- so' doesn't apply to these gowns , that's the way I see them.

For those who can remember the 1960`s and `hot pants` and mini skirts this is neither new or edgy but a new take on past fashion. However, draping a lot of excess material over a body is hardly art or high fashion - Emperor`s new clothes!!! I do not know how any of these outfits can be deemed fashion, nor why anyone would pay a high price for them. Better can be found in supermarkets!

I was young in the 60-s and wore hot pants under a skirt which was open in the front. Same color for the shorts and the skirt. The fabric was linen or a mixture of linen and cotton or linen and polyester. When standing right up the hot pants were not visible. When walking around the shorts became visible. It was very popular among young women ideal when biking and during vacations. One could take the skirt off to go for a walk on the beach f. ex. It was also popular to wear for a night out in the disco's. The design by Natan might be inspired on this old fashion from the 60-s and early 70-s.

  19. Edginess is the word which applies, and I think the world needs it. Try to imagine a world with only traditional designs. But yes, it is often fashion for young women and thin figures.
I have read here on several occasions : Why do royal ladies buy from Natan ? I think it is good that they can also go for innovative looks.
Having said this, I don't like the red caplet outfit. We cannot see enough of the the pale blue blouse to have an opinion about it.

None of these designs are edgy, but a Natan interpretation of the '60's and 70's- then they were edgy!

I’ve never been entirely impressed with Natan. There seems to be far more misses than hits. The model aside, the cherry ensemble is underwhelming to say the least. I struggle to see his vision. But,then if we all enjoyed the same thing, how boring life would be.
    Lowri.
