On June 4, 2026, Queen Sonja attended the opening of the exhibition “Inger Sitter: A Sense of Nature” — a comprehensive presentation of one of Norway’s most important artists of the second half of the 20th century. This year’s summer exhibition at Trondheim Art Museum showcases paintings, sketches, and graphic works from Inger Sitter’s long artistic career.
Inger Sitter (1929–2015) was born in Trondheim, where she developed her early artistic practice. At the age of 13, she made her debut at the Summer Exhibition of the Trondheim Art Association in 1943, where she exhibited, among other works, “The Fisherman.” Today, Trondheim Art Museum manages a collection of approximately 300 works by Inger Sitter.

Happy to see her out of hospital and well. She has a lovely jacket, and as always, quite a lot of jewelry. Pity we cannot see shat is around her neck, she has a penchant for interesting neck decorations.
