On the evening of May 13, 2026, Queen Sonja unveiled a sculpture by Kjell Erik Killi-Olsen in the park outside the Oscarshall summer palace, officially marking the opening of the 2026 summer season at Oscarshall. The artwork She Who Searches for the Sea is one of four sculptures by Killi-Olsen that will be displayed at the summer palace this season.
This year’s public season began on May 7 and will continue through August 30. Oscarshall is a summer palace located on the Bygdøy peninsula in Oslo, along the Frognerkilen fjord. The palace was built as a private summer residence and was completed in 1849. In 1881, King Oscar II opened Oscarshall to the public as a museum.
