On June 10, 2026, Queen Sofía attended the annual meeting of the International Circle of the Reina Sofía School of Music and the closing ceremony of the institution’s academic year, held at the Reina Sofía National Museum Art Centre. The Reina Sofía School of Music was founded in 1991 as a project dedicated to supporting young people and promoting musical culture.
Following the meeting, Queen Sofía presented diplomas to the most distinguished students of the 2025–2026 academic year. She also presented the School’s Plaque to maestro Lucas Macías, the Medal of Honour to Professor Günter Pichler—received on his behalf by Elfi Baumgartner and Wolfram Pichler—and the Medal of Honour to the Fiesole School of Music, which was received by Ana Mateo.
