Ahead of the Royal Couple’s 50th wedding anniversary, King Carl Gustaf presented Queen Silvia with the Seraphim Medal in recognition of her exceptionally significant humanitarian contributions spanning more than half a century. The medal presentation ceremony at the Royal Palace in Stockholm was attended by Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine.
The Seraphim Medal is Sweden’s highest honorary medal and is also the world’s oldest merit medal still awarded today. For 50 years, the Queen has initiated, championed, and led humanitarian efforts of great significance to many people, both in Sweden and abroad. Organizations founded by the Queen include Mentor, the Childhood, and Silviahemmet.
Well deserved recognition for Silvia´s outstanding humanitarian work, especially for children.
ReplyDeleteSilvia´s blazer looks exquisite, although I don´t personally like the print nor the colour combo with the dusty beige skirt (or is it light gray?).
Victoria looks a bit 50s housewife-ish, and her shoes are wrong (both for the palace setting and for the dress). Madeleine looks like a sleek business woman (and very generically American at that), but I like neither the cropped length of her trousers nor the jacket´s triangular cut-out. Sofia is classic in black and white but her peplum thing looks wrong. And Daniel´s outfit is an utter mess. Not the best showing (fashion-wise) of this lovely family. Luckily, the king is his usual well-dressed self.
@20:46… it’s an intimate setting in a palace which has also been their home for so many years. Looking from outside in, we can’t say the shoes are “wrong for the palace setting”… they know what’s right there, and how can we possibly?!

I adore this beautiful silk jacket that Silvia is wearing; the design and colours are perfect. I would love to own something like it! The rest of the family must be very proud of her; she is a very accomplished lady..

ReplyDeleteOh, this jacket is gorgeous. Up close its exquisite. The design of the fabric and color pattern is beautiful. Jacket fits well, nice length. Looks to be a dress worn underneath, I love the color of this dress, picking up same in her jacket. She is wearing a lovely subtle gold brooch on her collar. Love her pearl necklace. she looks marvelous.
