Nice dress with interesting design at the neck/collar and slight A-line skirt. Even with the plaid, there’s nothing to grab the focus, so I’d prefer a dark belt or the darker sandals on the model.

I agree that the focus is missing. If Letizia were wearing this, (and it would suit her very well), her dark hair would anchor the look.
I dont know that a dark belt or darker shoes would help in this instance because the pattern would still pull attention away from Charlene's face.
If this pattern were in a lighter colour , say pale blue on white, I think it would suit her colouring beautifully. Lyra

  2. Charlene looks great in this subdued yet interesting plaid dress. I noticed the way the print of the pattern was placed in a way to create an illusion of pleats or darts in the front of the skirt. It might be they are real darts but I can't tell for sure. The bodice also looks like there is an overlap of fabric near the shoulders that is unique.

Until I read the designer,I thought it might have been ES or AMcQ. I was not expecting Beulah.
The dress sits perfectly on PC. Nicely accessorised nude pumps.
I like the pearl stud earrings matching up with the pearl buttons on the dress.

I can't get rid of thinking of a tablecloth. I don't like the pattern, maybe different colours could help because I also don't enjoy the colour composition. So one of the rare occasions that I profoundly dislike what Charlene wears.

The cut and style of this dress looks wonderful on Charlene, with the shoulder detail and a-line skirt. The check pattern is not overly vivid and is quite pretty.

She looks very good in this particular style, hides well the slightly unbalanced width of her shoulders. My first reaction was “oh, she’s wearing Ralph Lauren” bc of the print (he has hundreds of garments with this - or very similar- pattern).

It is however Beulah - regardless, looks very nice on her

    1. I thought most ladies would love to have wide shoulders, but with Princess Charlene it is often looked at as a flaw, unbalanced or as a disadvantage. Regardless as you said she looks lovely!

    2. Why would "most ladies love to have wide shoulders"...?

Princess Charlene does not have unbalanced wide shoulders. She is an athlete everybody knows. I never felt it was a disadvantage for her mostly beautiful outfits.

Swimmers have wider shoulders than any high performance athlete. Do a Google search. The disadvantage is that their body looks like an inverted trapeze. Wide shoulders make most women look bulky, without necessarily being true for the rest of their body. Most women in this situation attempt to adjust their sartorial choices to minimize the impact.

@2:56 I do not think that a woman with very wide shoulders is disadvantaged. An inverted trapeze is a tough assessment on an amazing body that has trained so hard. This is simply one of the many different shapes we see in the wonderful array of 4 billion women, who come in so many different shapes and sizes and variation. I don’t agree that swimmers look bulky. They look like women.

I love the design of this dress very much and Charlene wears it perfectly. Almost like it was made for her.

The dress fits well, but I do not like the print. It is not very summery, more a dress to wear on a beautiful day (indian summer) in september or begin october.

Indian summer = only november, not before.

13:25 no, it depends on your climate. For you perhaps November, for the commenter September / October… for me, September.

I agree. In November sometimes it is freezing and snows already. However now with the climate change it might be much warmer. In my country the weather forecasts are talking already about a soft winter 2026-27.

13:44 it’s different in different places. For us it’s about temperature and a late warm period after autumn has already set in. It’s ok to have multiple different definitions! The world is big…

I am not keen on the pattern or colour, although it fits well. I admire the workmanship, the perfect alignment of the lines in the construction.

What a perfectly elegant summer dress. The fit is excellent and the pattern is interesting without being odd.

C'est peut-être une robe agréable à porter (c'est du coton) mais ce genre de motif me fait penser à du tweed donc je le trouve plutôt bizarre et décalé en cette saison.
C'est une robe très classique, différente du style habituel de la princesse. Paloma.
