The seven participating teams, which departed from Viareggio, Italy, on Friday, June 19, arrived in Monaco after nearly 24 hours of uninterrupted relay racing and completed the 225-kilometer water bike course. The finish of the 2026 edition of The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco took place at Larvotto Beach in Monaco, where Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène of Monaco were present to welcome the participants.
Team Lionheart, composed of Gustav Larsson, Veronika Larsson, Jeremy Josserand, and Alex Bennett, won the 2026 edition. The race crossed part of the Pelagos Sanctuary, bringing together two causes that are particularly important to the Princely Couple: drowning prevention, championed by Princess Charlène, and the protection of the marine environment.

Lovely, relaxed photos. The princely couple comes across as genuinely likeable and wonderfully welcoming.

ReplyDeleteEven men in great shape look terrible in cycling shorts. ("Anyone who wears cycling shorts has lost control of their life", freely adapted from Karl Lagerfeld)
ReplyDeleteAgreed and that’s a funny quote!!!
