The accident occurred on May 26, 2026, when an SNCB train collided with a minibus belonging to 't Ros Beiaard at a level crossing in Buggenhout. Four people lost their lives and five others on board the minibus were seriously injured. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a dark blue pleated short sleeve midi dress by Emporio Armani.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is Mathilda's slip/ petticoat
ReplyDeletetoo short for such a somber occasion?.
Cate.
Queen Mathilde!
DeleteIt is Queen Mathilde (with an "e") and she is dressed very descently.
DeleteYour eyes are deceiving you
DeleteIt is a very approriate dress for the occasion
DeletePerhaps one should mention it was a schoolbus. There were 4 victims : 2 children, the chauffeur and a young woman responsable for guiding the children. There were also 5 seriously injured people.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde wore a beautiful and descent navy pleated dress by Emporio Armani. Black shoes and a black clutch. Despite the heat they were present again after a busy week hosting the Emperor and Empress of Japan. After the ceremony the king and queen met with the parents of the deceased children, the parents of the injured victims, the emergency services like the Red Cross and other rescue teams.
Thank you so much for information about this horrible accident 🌸
DeleteAnon 14.39 Thank you for the intel. The accident sounded awful. Prayers for the deceased, and for the survivors.
DeleteGreat dress gives her a nice silhouette.
ReplyDeleteVery well dressed for the occasion. The berieved families will have been thankfull for their présence.
ReplyDeleteI must have that dress!
ReplyDeleteNo one could accuse the couple of not being present. After a week of hosting a state visit, they’re back on duty. QM looks appropriate for such a solemn occasion. I can’t imagine it being anything other than heartbreaking to have to see and hear the pain of loss the parents feel. Being royal isn’t always tiaras and banquets,as this couple have shown us.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
A very reverent occasion and equally dressed as such. I'm glad to see her under petticoat is the same length as the dress. She looks dignified and graceful.
ReplyDeleteI think the skirt of the dress has a lining. Most ladies these days are not wearing petticoats anymore.
DeleteBeautiful and appropriate for the service. Q. Mathilde knows how to display due reverence and consideration.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the dress a tad to big (size).
DeleteOf course royals know what to wear in a grave ceremony like this, protocol governs mourning dress. What I find far more unusual and very symbolic is that the royal couple is HOLDING HANDS.

Superbe robe d’Armani qui sied à merveille à la reine
ReplyDeletePour cette cérémonie, la reine a choisi un merveilleux modèle d’Armani qui lui sied à ravir !
ReplyDelete@09:14- that is not unusual for this couple, they invariably hold hands or link arms.
ReplyDeleteTrue and it's nice to see.
DeleteNot a good neckline for her and all the pleats are giving the old lady vibes.
