The Royal Family of Norway Celebrates Norway’s Constitution Day 2026

Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra

Norway celebrates its Constitution Day on May 17. The Crown Prince family’s celebrations began at their home, Skaugum Estate, in Asker. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Prince Sverre Magnus greeted the Asker children’s parade from the steps outside Skaugum Estate. Thereafter, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince couple, and Prince Sverre Magnus greeted the children’s parade from the palace balcony in Oslo.

King Harald moves with visibly great difficulties, but if he decides to show himself publicly, then he is moving alone and with great dignity. This prevents evoking pity by shifting attention to the difficulties instead of the person. In Mette-Marit's special case, the same attitude would be of eminent importance to be or remain credible.

Lovely photos and the brooch on MM is beautiful. Prince Sverre Magnus is wearing a style I haven’t seen before, but it’s full of beautiful details and he looks very handsome, especially standing with the family dog bedecked with a bow in national colors.

Jeepers 20:10 but that’s a cold hearted interpretation of a person sick enough to need supplemental oxygen and a chair to sit for corresponding fatigue.

Some people should learn to behave as adults. This is not a pr stunt. MM suffers from chronic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive, incurable lung disease characterized by the scarring of lung tissue. Last year they told that there had been a negative development, and preparations had begun with a view to an assessment for a lung transplant. We have seen paparazzi photos of her using oxygen so give it a rest.

I think it is time for Ingrid to come home to study. The royal house needs her presence, aging grandparents, seriously ill mother. Her father needs her support.

@22:21," her father needs support": Everybody needs support. And for royal tasks, it is primarily Harald and Sonja who need support. And as for emotional support, what you seem to mean, Ingrid Alexandra needs at least that much support - to have some free years of her youth to study and enjoy. Her parents obviously know it better than you.

Hear, hear, 05:03! Oxygen is medication and requires a doctor’s prescription. Oxygen is always administered in controlled dosages, breathing too much oxygen is in fact dangerous.

I find it difficult to give Mette-Marit the benefit of the doubt on many issues after the Epstein-related revelations; however, I do believe her medical problems are real and extremely serious. No person, and no family, deserves that.

Nonsense. The doctors have said they don't know why she got this disease and her specific diagnosis is an unusual variant of fibrosis, which may be linked to a broader autoimmune condition. Stop spreading rumours and what you think. Obviously you are not a doctor. Her doctors information is good enough. This condition is a type of interstitial lung disease that causes the lung tissue to become scarred and stiff, making it increasingly difficult to breathe and get enough oxygen into the bloodstream. This doesn't happen over night. The need for oxygen varies for the patient, and as time goes by, the need increases until the patient uses it 24/7. We can hear when MM speaks that she is breathless and have to take breaks obviously her health is deteriorating. Can we please try to be a fellow human being with empathy and respect.
