On May 7, 2026, Queen Letizia of Spain visited Pamplona, Navarre, to take part in two activities marking World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska. The day began with a visit to the “Espacio Activo” Comprehensive Care Center, an initiative of the Red Cross in Navarre aimed at older people, caregivers, and their close communities.
Afterward, the Queen presided over the central event marking the 2026 World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, commemorated on May 8 in the 191 countries where the humanitarian organization operates. During the event, the Spanish Red Cross presented its 2026 Gold Medals to individuals and organizations that have made a significant social impact.
