On May 6, 2026, Queen Rania of Jordan visited the village of Saham Al Kafarat in Irbid and took part in a hike with a group of local young men and women in an area overlooking the Yarmouk River. During the hike, the Queen spoke with local tourism advocates who shared their experiences in promoting nature tourism destinations in the Jordanian countryside.
Queen Rania also met with members of the local community, who spoke to her about their initiatives. One of these initiatives is Khairat Saham, a platform that promotes the area’s rich agricultural and traditional heritage while empowering local farmers and families through the packaging, marketing, and sale of their products, including olive oil, pomegranates, guavas, and other artisanal food items.
