On May 13, 2026, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium received the members of the Queen Elisabeth Competition jury at the Royal Palace in Brussels. The jury, chaired by Gilles Ledure, consists of Belgian and international cellists. Afterwards, Queen Mathilde attended a semi-final session of the competition at Flagey in Brussels.

    We have some very interesting openings in the fabric on both shoulders, as if the sleeves wanted to depart from the dress and live their own separate life. Maybe this feature is introduced in order to distract from the extensive amount of ruching on the tummy which is not really advantageous for the wearer.

    I love the shoulder detailing on this frock. If the rest of the dress were plain and sructured, without the ruching, I think the look could be excellent. Putting 2 entirely different features in the one dress -- ruching together with draped shoulder slits -- seems an odd choice to me; I would prefer to see just the slits, or just some ruching. Lyra
