On April 2, 2026, King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended the Maundy Day service at St Asaph Cathedral in St Asaph, Wales. The service marked the first time it has been held in North Wales in its 800-year history, and only the second time it has been held in Wales.
Maundy is a holy Christian day that is celebrated every year on the Thursday before Easter.
During the service, King Charles handed out Maundy Money to local people. The number of recipients is equal to the monarch's age, so he presented gifts to 77 men and 77 women in recognition of their Christian service and contributions.
Queen Camilla wore a navy pleated dress and a matching embroidered coat from Christian Dior, paired with a hat by Philip Treacy. She also wore a sapphire and diamond brooch from the collection of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Wow ! Queen Camilla is looking fabulous ! Beautiful embroidered coat and a gorgeous hat, love the colours.
ReplyDeleteKing Charles is looking good, but tired.
Yes fabulous Camilla
DeleteCamilla is looking very Queen like; the coat, hat, the brooch, the gloves!! Queen Elizabeth would be proud today.

Camilla looks very nicely put together, good, the hat is pretty and I am quite sure she has "new" brows, I mean: appropriately trimmed and groomed, as opposed to earlier. And what a difference it makes - too dark and too much is as unfavourable as the opposite. But what is very visible here too: https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/02/queen-camilla-visits-theatre-royal-bath.html looks good.
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics that the outfits of both Charles and Camilla are made of are exquisitely high quality. How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla wears the lovely navy blue outfit so well! I love the hat's trim which is echoed in her gloves and the lacy appliqué around her shoulders, sleeve caps and front facing of the coat. It is all exquisite and showcases her lovely white hair and blue eyes. The King is quite spiffy in his navy velvet outfit as well! What a treat for a beautifully outfitted pair!
ReplyDeleteWow that coat is fabulous! The Queen looks great in this Dior coat and wow, honestly, who wouldn't? The style is very flattering and Queen Camilla wears it well but the embroidery is fantastic. Her beautiful new (?) brooch looks like a star saphire or lapus to me altho someone stated it is a sapphire? Hard to tell in these pictures. I am not a fan of the trim on the hat, tho. The style is really nice but I think the lacy trim looks not so great compared to the fantastic needle work on the coat. All in all a really pretty look for Queen Camilla.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts as well. The trim on the hat ,though the colours are nice , the lace to me does not match the elegance of the coat.
DeleteThis does not exists where I live, the responsables for the churches and premises used by the Catholic habitants nor de priests of the parishes do not even have enough money themselves to make the heating working. Result : in the few old churches which are still open people are freezing to death during winter. The directions of the parishes and priests are not receiving enough money from the government nor the town and it won't be any better during next year's spring & summer because of the high energy prices we'll have to pay.
ReplyDeleteOkay so people still wear appropriate outer wear to attend church.
Deletethe catholic church is incredibly wealthy so not sure why governments or towns would be subsidising them
DeleteAt first sight one would not believe this coat is by Christian Dior because the cut ressembles all her other coats. The embroidery however looks very special. Therefore I believe it is a real Dior. But what an idea to wear black boots with it at Easter. The shape of the hat by Philip Treacy is looking good but not the wide fantasy around the head of the hat. It doesn't match the embroidery on the coat. Her handbag looks rather big. Maybe she had to look after the 2x 77 maundy packages.
ReplyDeleteI love the embroidery on Camilla's coat. It works especially well because it is the same deep indigo blue as the coat, so it's not too obtrusive. Now I'd love to see the matching dress underneath.

Waouh, magnifique son nouveau chapeau ainsi que sa broche qu’il me semble avoir déjà vue !
ReplyDeleteWhat great look for Camilla. Love the hat the ensemble looks stunning. Also, a new pin?

Nice coordinated outfits on the couple. Charles looks good and healthy, after what he went through. Chris
ReplyDeleteA very well- dressed couple looking really festival. The trim on the Queens hat lightens it up, without the trim it would become too dark.
ReplyDeleteAnd, by the way, the eyebrows are soft and well done!
The actual coat is lovely, good style and cut. The embellishments are beautifully done, up close really effective, across the shoulders, neckline, bodice right to the sleeves. The only thing I don't like, minor quibble is the fabric, quite stiff. The Sapphire and diamond brooch, what a beauty. Subtle, beautifully crafted. Gorgeous glistening diamonds and perfect size Sapphire stone, which is a glorious color.
ReplyDelete@17:16 - the money comes from the Monarch not the Church. I suggest you do `search` on the origin of the tradition before posting such a comment.
ReplyDeleteA somber look appropriate for the day. I am not overly taken with the lace trim around the hat. Other than that it’s a nice choice.
