  1. We understand why Queen Letizia has been forced to ditch her heels but why has she stopped wearing jackets? Once again, as last week, this is a nice enough outfit but looks like something you would wear for a casual lunch. At both events, almost every other person male or female is wearing a jacket and, therefore looks more business like

@Annie, full respect for your attitude to and opinion about jackets for women. But just to show how differently it can be viewed: I hate most of them, them, especially "serious" masculine jackets "copied" from men's fashion. It is a pity if exactly this copy of businesslike-ness would be valid for women too ... this is at least how I see it :-)

I have noted lots of comments in the past few years that HM Q Letizia is less covered up than others at events. I can’t help but think, as a woman of a certain age myself, she has probably hit a period of life where she feels much warmer than she used to and needs to wear cooler clothing. I am fully aware of the Queen’s age of 53, but perimenopause strikes when it wants to!

Possibilities: it’s too warm for a jacket, she feels more comfortable when working not to wear one, she doesn’t want to. She had a lovely periwinkle blue suit on recently. She’s inviting them to her palace. It’s quite normal that we who host dress more casually when we are chez nous and others coming do their best with the dress code but wear more than us. All this is normal and no problem. I love seeing her with her sleeves rolled up ready to work. I get hot easily so I also would choose this outfit.

I don't see that wearing a jacket looks automatically more businesslike - or vice versa, that you have to wear a jacket over a shirt if you want to look businesslike. Depends on the jacket - and depends on the non-jacketed outfit.

    6. @Anon 16 39, I take your point and a badly chosen jacket can mar an outfit ( as shown on several occasions by the Duchess of Edinburgh, for example) but I would suggest that there is nothing masculine in the lovely pink jacket worn by the lady on the left of front row in the last photo or the soft cream worn by the lady three in. Imo, something like that, in the appropriate colour, would improve this outfit.

Cute casual work outfit. Nothing too exciting but I do love her shoes!

  3. Les rayures sont tendance cette année ; Letizia les a choisies judicieusement de couleur lilas qui se combine à merveille aussi bien avec le bleu-marine que le noir !

  4. I love stripes of all kinds. They are a classic pattern. I like the way Letizia rolled up the sleeves and tucked in the top making it look more stylish. The neckline is very unusual.

I like this blouse, which Letizia also wore last September.
Open-necked casual shirts can easily look dishevelled at the neck with aloose unbuttoned collar -- but this neckline is particularly neat. It balances the volume of the fabric with a clean simple edge, adding just enough structure to make this casual design suitable for business daywear. To my eye, this less formal design makes Letizia look more relaxed too - as does the delicate colour. Lyra

Excellent sleeves rolled up working look for a queen who seems to get deeply into the subjects she supports. I’m sure her journalistic training has offered much help to many organisations

The sleeves rolled up is just what this shirt needs to be loose but not too formless or simply big. Well made by Letizia.

She is showing a lack of respect to her guests by dressing down, is that what she thinks they deserve? Rem

@18:09, what are you talking about? you seem to have a special dislike if you call this "dressing down", only in order to blame Letizia for lack of respect.

    2. It would be inconsiderate and disrespectful to the guests to overwhelm them by showing up dressed in clothes and jewelry that most of them cannot afford. If you look at the guests, the ladies are dressed in simple, unpretentious clothes, suitable for a business environment and the same can be said for the men. Seeing the Queen wearing clothes that they themselves could afford makes the ladies feel confortable and at ease. Well done, Letizia

Rolled-up sleeves for the queen of Spain? Too casual, in my opinion, queen Sofia would never have appeared in public like this. The blouse is pretty but can easily be altered.

@Virginia, this is not classic rolled up sleeves, it is folded. And comparisons again ... why, who needs to dress exactly the same way as her mother-in-law - or for that matter, as anyone else?

I don't like how she wears this blouse. If she cannot wear it like it is supposed to be worn (see the model) better choose another blouse where the sleeves must not be rolled up. Dressed like she is here is O.K. for her free time, not to receive people and not business like at all. If it is already too warm, she could wear a simple dress in a light fabric and a plain color, not too long. Since she is wearing flat shoes she didn't adapt the length of her dresses. She is wearing the same length as before when she wore high heels. In a dress like that she would look O.K. to receive people in a business style for women. She doesn't have to buy new dresses for that because she has this style of dress already in her dressing room.

I’m sorry, but designers don’t make blouses to be worn only one way. The reason they have buttons is to give an option to unbutton and pull up the sleeves, which has been a very stylish way to feminize a blouse for many years.

Dear 21:39, I totally agree with you, not business-like, as you say, and for me not refined enough for a queen, basically we mean the same thing. This is why I mentioned queen Sofia as a role model. The blouse is not
meant to be buttoned-up. 🌞 Virginia

Sofía a role model? Obviously, all her Valentino dresses were paid by Franco, the dictator and with the people's money...not a role model for Spain..all her private jewelry too.... Letizia has not money to do the monckey around..the governtment wont't allow It...

20:03 my opinion only pertains to the clothes and the queen is definitely dressed down, I don’t know her personally so I don’t have enough information to like or dislike her. 20:25 must you insult the intelligence and discernment of the queen’s guests? She is the queen, regardless of how much money or jewelry the guests have they very well know her wealth and what she can afford. 21:42 rolled, folded, same thing. Rem

"Regardless of how much money or jewelry the guests have they very well know her wealth and what she can afford"...indeed..
Letizia has not properties at all, all the palaces and the house (she does not live in a Palace, they are only for visitors) where she lives, belong to the State. She has not jewelry, It was stolen by Franco's wife and Alfonso XIII,Who was sent to the exile needed to dell many of them to survive.
So, YES, every body knows in Spain that her salary is 112.00 euros per year..and her husband's 300.000...also they pay taxes...for living...do you think that she have money for nonsense as clothes?

No wealth for the Spanish King, after his greatgranfather was sent to the exile, a dictatorship, two Republics, and a dictatorship, in Spain the King IS only there because he is cheaper than a President of a Republic...and because her father dis not want to be another dictator...wealth?? Juan Carlos was raised in the exile..., and now all belongs to the State.
