On the evening of April 16, 2026, an anniversary gala was held at one of Manhattan’s private members’ clubs to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce (SACCNY). Princess Madeleine attended the event. Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce (SACCNY) is a non-governmental organization established in 1906. The theme of the gala was the 1920s, and all guests adhered to the Gatsby Glamour Black Tie dress code. For the occasion, the Princess wore a sequinned gown by Temperley London.

Oh no ladies, what’s happening here? The sparkles are not enough to make up for ill fitting ill conceived garments. The expensive price tag can be the Kings New Clothes … if it’s X brand it MUST look great … no, it might be nothing at all. Better to do a Victoria and turn up in a neat H&M top and long skirt than these creations.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I did not like Madeleine’s fur shrug or her necklace and bracelets, but taking a closer look, some of the other women are dressed similarly - I think there must have been a retro theme or something like that. The Temperley dress looks beautiful.

I agree there had to have been a theme - 1920s/30s perhaps. The sautoirs many of the women are wearing bolster that idea, to my mind. Even the gentlemen are wearing evening wear that’s reminiscent of that era. Given that, I think the dresses worn for this event look really good.
DeleteI just found the theme on the SACCNY’s site - Gatsby Glamor! I think the attendees really did a great job with their retro choices.

ReplyDeleteIt is okay, not a fan of the fur shrug. She looks lovely in this colour and fits nicely. I would prefer her hair shortened to shoulder length to frame her pretty face. This length imo hair just becomes an unnecessary accessory.
