Queen Máxima is in Washington, D.C., to attend the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. On April 16, the Queen met with several key partners and leaders to discuss financial health initiatives.
On Friday, April 17, at the invitation of U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Queen Máxima attended the “G20 Fireside Chat on Global Financial Literacy.” The United States has held the presidency of the G20 since December 1, 2025. Among the other participants in the fireside discussion were Treasury Secretary Bessent, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and the finance ministers of Mexico and Japan, Édgar Amador Zamora and Satsuki Katayama.
