What is with Princess Sophia's hat? Why is she hiding her face? And why did she think that was a good look? I really don't like GD Stephanie's outfit at all. The sleeve under the cape is too much, it does not look good on her. The color is nice but not a good style for her (or possibly anyone else either). The red moire taffeta dress and jacket is very pretty - my overall favorite of the day. Princess Estelle looks all grown up but I am not a fan of the rolled collar on her dress, otherwise it's a beautiful color and I love the flowers. The same for Queen Mary's blouse, the suit is just ok but I don't like the color or the collar on the blouse. I hope there is a dinner for the King so we can see some jewels and tiara's!

Dear 17:48, I guess this party wasn’t to your style preferences, eh? I adore almost everything I see, and I particularly find Sofia’s outfit completely stunning. The hat is adorable and absolutely charming, and I think her face is down because, as per most faces photographed at the same spot, they were not expecting /performing for an audience or camera.

    2. I saw these photos and thought fabulous i saw so many positives but you, Anon 17 48 only seem to see negatives.
Firstly, great to see so many hats
Queen Silvia looks wonderful and the colour is superb, Princess Sofia is just gorgeous. The hat is fabulous.
Among other top choices, Queen Mary, though she might have managed a better hat, and Margareta of Roumania

Did Princess Sofia have facial surgery? There is no other explanation for her hat.

    1. Si, il y a une autre explication, c'est un chapeau proche de la forme "cloche" comme en portait Charlotte Grimaldi, la grand mère et aussi une ou deux fois sa petite fille Caroline.
Celui de Sofia est une variante.

That's a bit harsh. Although I do agree I also don't understand a hat that hides the eyes.

If you don’t mind me saying so, 17:49, how rude. I adore the hat. It’s absolutely lovely. My favourite outfit. For this split second where the photo was taken, she has her face down. There’ll be others where you see her face.

Best: I don't know why Vitoria is wearing uniform, but it is perfectly fitted and for me, she looks absolutely smashing in it! As far as I am concerned, she can go on wearing it any time. Tightly followed by Estelle, looking fabulous and making me happy with a beautiful dress length. - Worst: GD Stephanie is wearing - well, loads of red fabric, the rest of which was gathered into an as monumental as superfluous cape. - In non-competitive mode present: all the flowers and ruffles that the Duchess of E. left to be deployed by much more suitable candidates, in this case by the best one: little Ines. - Silvia looks as she always does: absolutely perfect, without surprises, as she is not the birthday girl.

Victoria is right now under military education so she uses her uniform just like we have seen from Spain, Norway, UK, Belgium and Netherlands before.

In Belgium CP Elisabeth only uses her uniform for the Military Défilé on the National Day, or on military events of the Royal Military Academy.
Never for birthdays, anniversaries or other family events.

I think it’s to do with her ceremonial military role as her brother wore the same; they attended a military parade together in the morning.

Love the moiré silk on Her Majesty Margerita of Romania (Custodian of the Romanian Crown). Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein's hat is a bit too large, me thinks, and Princess Sofia of Sweden's hat sits very low on her brow. Everybody else looks good, as expected and befitting the occasion. Can't wait for tonight's gala dinner.

En anglais "young lady" veut dire la même chose que "jeune fille" en français, "jeune femme" est une traduction qu'on n'utilise pas dans ce contexte.

Sofia’s hat seems like a very strange choice for this event. It makes her look like she is trying to hide. I also wonder how she can see where she is going.

Some true loveliness here. Love Sylvia’s colour scheme and as per always they make a dashing couple. All their kids and grandkids look wonderful - although unusually several without their normal generous smiles … was a photographer positioned in the corridor where no one was expecting her or him! Victoria and Daniel’s kids are just lovely. The lady on the left in pic 4 has a most beautiful blue outfit and the hem length is just perfect for low heels, a fine example of elegance without uber high heels. Princesses Madeleine and Sofia looking superb. What a treat for us to see!

    2. Totally disagree. The hats are fabulous and, in some cases, transform the outfits from smart into spectacular. Princess Sofia’s is the most obvious example. Without the hat it would just be an ordinary smart dress. Love all the stylish pillbox styles too. The only one I really don’t like is Princess Sophie 0f Liechtenstein’s hat where the angle is just a wee bit too ridiculous. 👒

Everyone looks great! Have to find where to post birthday wishes to the king. So many times the camera catches a scowl on his face, and yet through other photos it is obvious there is a lot of love in that family! I like GD Stephanie's sleeves with the piping trim rather than a cuff. Queen Suthida looks nice. Missed my chance when others posted about Thai women and freedom (liberty), but if they are flying planes that requires math skills and is not a pink collar position. Chris

It’s amazing the wealth these ladies have at their disposal and still they can’t put a full ensemble together that works for them.
QM - I loved the Dior suit when she wore during the state visit to France. But, wearing the bulky collar blouce under the jacket spoils it. It was perfect without the blouce.
QS - Is always so elegant. She’s of the old guard where grace and attention to detail made the look fabulous.
    QV- Looks great in uniform.
PS - I’m unsure about the ‘lampshade’ hat. How is she managing to see under that low rim!
PM - She has inherited her mother’s grace and elegance. She knows what suits her,and she wears it well.
QS of Thailand looks fabulous. We don’t often see the King & Queen at royal get togethers, so it’s lovely to see her there.
    Lowri.

  20. CP Victoria looks superb in uniform, she really rocks this! Prince Daniel looks beautifully attired and groomed, suit fits well. and he looks very stylish.
Queen Suthida of Thailand, wow! beautiful, traditional gown and her jewels. Her belt was diamond encrusted, simply stunning. Love her small bag. She has such style and natural elegance. Her makeup and hair, perfection.
Princess Sophia's hat, this is extremely unflattering.
Queen Mary's jacket and skirt look lovely, not liking this particular blouse with this outfit.

I think I like Madeleine’s and Mary’s outfits the best. Sofia’s hat spoils her look, in my opinion. Victoria looks powerful and no-nonsense in her uniform, like her father the King. The Queen of Thailand is wearing incredible bling for a daytime event - that jeweled belt buckle!!
