On March 25, 2026, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the installation ceremony of Sarah Mullally at Canterbury Cathedral, south-east England. Archbishop Mullally was formally installed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury during a service marking the start of her public ministry. Sarah Mullally, who worked as a nurse before becoming ordained, is the first woman to be appointed leader of the Church of England.
Senior members of the British Royal Family, the Prime Minister, and other dignitaries were among more than 2,000 guests in attendance at the installation service, which also included faith leaders, schoolchildren, and healthcare workers. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a new cashmere wool coat from one of her favourite brands, Suzannah London.

I'm not liking the shape of the hat.
ReplyDeletei'm liking the hairdo, her hair looks best this week. the stylist does a good job puting all that hair up.
DeleteNot the best hat for windy weather. The wind blew if off her head. The stylist should have pinned it on her hair.

Melania-Hat.
DeleteA very smart looking outfit on Kate. I love the bold hat and the black trim on the collar and along the skirt as well as the contrasting buttons. She opted to go unbelted. I like the belted look too.
ReplyDeleteThe belted makes it look more like a coat, this makes it more of a coat dress. I like both as well.
DeleteCatherine’s outfit is very striking with the matching hat. It looked like it was a bit of a struggle to hang onto the hat in the high winds outside.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
She's in great shape!
ReplyDeleteWow! Catherine is stunning!
ReplyDeleteVery elegant. Beautiful updo in her hair. I would like to see what kind of dress she wore under her coat. Stephanie
ReplyDeleteKind of like what’s under their kilt? Lol
DeleteShe’s wearing a black dress.
DeleteThis ticks all the boxes for me. A well tailored coat dress. A wide brimmed hat, giving a look of old glamour. Perfect updo. This for me, is one of Catharines better look.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Agree. She looks wonderful here.
DeleteYes all very good looking but I would love to see this coat cut in two pieces in a Dior look with a fitted jacket and a white skirt. I think these kind of coats make her too slim
DeleteElle possède combien de manteaux ?
ReplyDeleteJe me demande souvent moi aussi combien elle a de manteaux ! 50 ?
DeletePaloma.
Environ 500, probablement
DeleteFar too many. She is always hailed for rewearing her clothes but compared to the vast size of her wardrobe, she actually does not rewear that much
DeleteI don't think the the hat matches the coat. I don't love the coat but I think it would definitely look better with a simple black hat. The hat? Yeah not sure what I would like that with. I like the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI like the burgundy outfit the woman is wearing best by a lot. Nice brooch and pearls. She looked great. Don't mind the headband. The POW's hair looks better in an updo. William's gone from not believing to believing quick. Silly thought. I hope that's nothing. Awful beard.
ReplyDeleteI am with you 100%. Including William’s quickly found faith after the media reports.
DeleteKate’s hat is precisely what etiquette says should not be worn in a church, because the size would obstruct other worshipers. Doesn’t look like she cares much about that. As long as it draws attention… the rest is irrelevant
He is trying to look solemn but his face looks annoyed and angry, maybe with time he will develop faith, or fake it better, Rem
Delete@04:47 , before you secrete your toxic etiquette comments, look if they would not appear completely silly because untrue, nobody is sitting behind them: https://people.com/thmb/x_3yYy0j3XqCWM4SIceEovQHgr4=/4000x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(749x0:751x2)/william-kate-canterbury-installation-032526-11-c83df9dc1ba2473f9f2e2774c73e1578.jpg . You are contorting what William really said too. Go play somewhere else.
Delete@04:47 '' says should not be worn in a church, because the size would obstruct other worshipers''
DeletePoW Catherine's sitting arrangment- there was nobody else behind them.
Catherine is once again playing it safe with a simple, classic coat dress that elongates her already slim, tall silhouette. Neat and well groomed. Looks similar to the gray/white coat of last week. At least the she wore her hair in a regal updo. Perhaps she is defining her signature look, but we continue to see the same thing - just in different colors. She is choosing a different look from 8 to 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant beauty!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning outfit. The coat and the fabulous hat look sensational. The updo hopefully will please the hair police! It is all modern and something new which is lovely to see.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth - I agree! I love the combo of patterns because it’s so modern. My hunch is that it was even better in person, where it’s more apparent that the black/ivory match between the coat and hat. Plaid reads another shade from a distance and in photos. I also think the wide brim of the hat balances out her height and the long coat, so the whole look is very chic.
DeleteThe coat dress is simply wonderful. I don't like the hat, the reasons could be something like: first, somehow the style competes with the coat's style, and the coat is the main player here, the hat should be an accessoire, not a competitor. So I imagine this hat with a very simple, unpatterned dress could be fabulous. And second: Coat has pattern, the hat has a slightly different pattern. It should not have any pattern. So yes, the unified reason is: coat and hat are in competition.
ReplyDeleteTruth, the hat distracts from the whole ensemble. Echoes melania’s 🇺🇸 comedic inaugural day hat
DeleteCan anyone pls say the hat is eerily reminiscent of Melania’s inauguration comedic hat. the archbishop hat is definitely a classic 🤭
DeleteCatherine’s hat is lovely as is she - please do not compare her in any way to Melania.
DeleteWhy Anonymous 17:10? Melanie wears clothes beautifully too. This is a style blog is it not?
DeleteQuelle élégance ; j’adore le style de son chapeau à larges bords !
ReplyDeleteAnother too long coat, even more so this time. Obviously she’s still without a stylist.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to think that to make a coat shorter someone needs a stylist? Maybe Catherine agrees with the designer that this coat needs this length (which works this time). .
Deletejust a different stylist. her old stylist got married she's a stay home mom.
Delete22:28 what is a too long coat?! Relative to what? For whom? Why? It’s such a crazy thing to say - as is the “stylist” comment.
DeleteThat's what I call a sophisticated look.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteWhy is her coat too long ? Maybe for you but not for her. She wouldnt have worn it if she didn't like it. Do you have proof she hasn't got a stylist ? Just don't assume because you don't like it. I think the whole outfit is fab.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic pied-de-poule coat in her signature look and so well taylored. But I must say that these slim-fit very long coats make her waist and figure in general even more thin than it is. Maybe the coats a bit shorter would help to give the whole more presence
ReplyDeleteCe n'est pas du tout du pied-de-poule mais du prince de Galles.

Under the last photo it is clearly explained of what fabric the coat is made. There are still people who never read the complete message before giving an answer.
DeleteThis tailored coat looks divine, the height of the Princess is a real asset! She wears this coat beautifully, looking so elegant. I prefer it worn without the belt hence buttons. The black silk satin trim is very effective and adds good definition. Her black accessories are well combined. The hat is gorgeous! I'm not a fan normally of her cluster pearl earrings, but on this occasion, I feel they look quite good. It looks to be the silver diamond cross necklace, nice to see her wearing one. Her up style hair looks splendid, really well done.
ReplyDeleteThe coat is too long and the hat does not frame her face well; and her shoes look like she is teetering around. William looks excellent, as does the lady in the maroon outfit, I like her head piece (Tara)
ReplyDeleteThe long coat makes her even slimmer : the wise brim of the hat is a wonderfull contrast with that verticale line. I find her rather stunnig: 100% My fair Lady!
ReplyDeleteI like her hair, very beautiful updo.
ReplyDeleteCoat and hat don't match. Too much of the same she already has. Why always these coats which are making her even thinner than she already is, not to speak about the dull colors ? Nobody makes any comments on her high heels ? Other royal ladies receive regularly comments on their high heels. To me they are looking very beautiful. I think I recognize a little handbag by Chanel (photo N°2) which is looking very stylish.
A very elegant and carefully chosen outfit for this event. The long coat police is hilarious!
ReplyDelete@04:47 - why would William need to ¬quickly found faith` - he stated he had `quiet faith` which millions have and practice privately. I`ve never heard of church etiquette regarding the size of hats. Quite sure they knew where they were going to sit, choir stall, no one infront or behind!
ReplyDelete@ Tara - no surprise about the negative comment. There was no `teetering`!
The coat was in Prince of Wales check and a fantastic piece of tailoring all lines match at the seams. The hat, shoes and handbag just right. Sophisticated and elegant, imo.
Thank you for addressing the "faith" issue (which, in all honesty should not be something so openly discussed on a fashion blog. Just my two cents). Who ever joined in the chorus that The Prince of Wales suddenly "found his faith" - do you know how often exactly he attends church services? The ones not public, perhaps? The moments he can slip into the private chapel at Windsor Castle (and no, I do not mean St. George's ; there is a strictly pirvate one within the castle itself)? I am sure you have much information about that that we are obviously not privy to. Why do so many people assume that he is an almost atheist? It was very clear with the visit to Lambeth Palace a few weeks ago that the Prince and the Princess of Wales were the ones to attend the installation service at Canterbury Cathedral for the Archbishop. Events and engagements like that are planned long ahead of time. It certainly was not something done on a whim just to make sure it gave have the right impression, matching perhaps even the most recent discussions about his faith. I am a believing Christian, too, and guess what - last time I went to church was in late September 2025. No need to sit in the pews every Sunday or on any religious holiday to prove it.
DeletePura elegancia, en el sentido más amplio de la palabra.
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks stunning--I love the whole ensemble! And, she's wearing her hair up which I think is perfect for this look--especially with the hat. I also like that Catherine chose to alter the coat as the belted version looks a bit more casual. Refined, elegant, and chic!
ReplyDeleteJanet
And again, a stunning look, for the PoW.
