I'm ready for these extra wide leg pants to move on. If they don't look good on her, they're not going to look good on anyone. (see pic #3). ---LB

They are not looking good on her. They look even a bit better on Queen Maxima. All the other queens and princesses are so wise not to wear these extra extra wide leg pants.

I agree you need height to pull these off, but they are a nice colour

  2. These pants are way too voluminous! And they seem hazardous for sports. I really hope Mary won't trip or fall with all that fabric in the way. I don't know how she managed to run and kick the ball without tumbling. They are also not slimming & don't look attractive at all. She looks huge in the third picture.

Sandra, did you watch the video showing her kicking the ball before you wrote your comment? Why do you suppose she does not know what kind of outfit she needs for what she is doing? Watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOe9WiJL-Os . Perfection. Photos are sometimes not even half of the story.

Sandra I don’t mind your comments on the trousers at all - fair enough - but I would like to point out that in a world of people unhappy with their weight, eating disorders, disordered eating etc, “looking huge” and clothes needing to “look slimming” are outdated modes to push. As it turns out Mary is slim and can wear whatever she likes so even if I agree these wide trousers look pretty mad, it’s not because they aren’t slimming. This is not a healthy fashion goal.

19:41 I know kicking a football like this requires flexible pants, but these ones are almost dangerous as Sandra mentions! Elastic jeans or track pants would have been great!

@01:24, very good remark about "slimming" clothes.

No, just no to those over exaggerated wide trousers. A simple straight leg linen trouser would have been far better. I know QM has a few wide legged trousers in her closet, and none ever look flattering on her.

Awful. These trousers shorten her legs

Think how much better these photos would be if she had just worn regular jeans.

Maybe Mary thought she was going to the circus ground!

In a similar context, Catherine would probably have shown up to this event with skinny jeans, a neat jumper and clean running shoes. This would have been a nice choice for Mary. I wonder if she’s been practising playing with the Australian Rules football for this moment to execute the strong kick as they are unwieldy and difficult to kick, but look excellent done properly. Perhaps she played a lot with her siblings growing up as we did ?

These pants aren’t my favourite, but they are certainly way better than skinny jeans in my opinion. Mary isn’t one to take every opportunity to wear pants so tight they look painted on her lower body. Mary is above all that.

Yes, I was very impressed with Mary's drop-kick, it does take practice to get this right. Lyra

There are pictures where Princess Catherine is wearing a long dress when kicking a ball. Everybody seems to forget that Queen Mary had another visit before she met with the football team. She could not have worn sports gear for visiting the port of Melbourne (photo N° 1, 2, 3) and King Frederik wearing a regular suit. Not that I like these XXL pant legs on nobody or maybe on clowns at the circus, which are supposed to fall on their face now and then.

The pants look comfortable but they aren’t much suited to playing sports in my opinion. Too much material getting in the way and it’d be easy to trip over it and fall on your face. A slimmer pant or perhaps shorts would have been a better choice.

  8. This is fabulous, Mary participating and what a perfect kick! love this. The white jacket looks lovely as does the top. No to the pants, these are so baggy, I realise its fashionable but these pants are certainly a bit too much, fabric wise, just my opinion, lovely visit today.

  9. Dès les premières photos, j’ai cru voir un ballon de rugby à la forme bizarre mais non pas du tout ; j’en apprends tous les jours !

Why new pants when you have so many? Mary said a couple of years ago that she would do better in terms of her excessive consumption of clothes. She was actually criticized for it. And it is not an excuse to say her daughters can wear it.
