What is up with Q Max? Two days in a row wearing all grey and not adding a giant diamond brooch or large earrings? She looks great but I miss the over the top jewelry!!

The look right to me. It's winter, they have the right to keep their ankles warm when they are seated. Christine

Matarrella has the right length. Dress pants are supposed to fall just the way his do. The others… yes, too long. Maybe Felipe will visit and he’ll certainly wear them correctly.

    3. King Felipe of Spain as wells as King Charles have impeccable tastes in suits (neither photographed here), other royal gentlemen, not so much

  3. The Queen and Crown Princess look lovely in their pantsuits, lovely colors and fitting well. The Italian Presidents daughter looks beautiful in her black pantsuit. The Princess Royal in what appears to be a red velvet dress. I would like to find a close up of this dress, it looks so interesting from what I can see. Her colorful scarf and Navy colored clutch and shoes are a great color choice.

I love Princess Anne's outfit, the colour is so vibrant; the plushness of the material.it is a standout, good on her.(Tara)

  5. Tout de suite, la princesse Anne a capté mon regard sur ce que je pense être une robe-manteau à large col en velours rouge ; c’est la seule à porter de la couleur pour cette occasion !

I am so glad to see that Queen Maxima is
"aligning" a bit more with what the Italians call " Alta moda" (equivalent of " Haute Couture"), usually referred to as " Italian style").
This traditonally includes pretty distintive features , such as clean cut lines, demure, subtle, classy elegance , classic colour palettes.
I don't know what brand she wore to this opening ceremony- it might as well be all but an Italian one- still it shows its own amount of flair and that's a good starting point for her.
I just miss a piece of jewellery like a gold necklace with a discreet, tasteful pendant/ medallion.
Hope she will keep up with this good fashion twist.
(Please, Queen Maxima, while you are staying in Milan, try to go for a stroll in the most exclusive fashion streets!).
Wonderful to see Princess Amalia attending this event, I read she wore a maroon Mango pant suit, a very flattering colour on her, just lovely (don't know wheather my info is correct).
As another commenter said, I also noticed the plushness of Princess Anne's outfit material, good colours too.
    Well done to her.
President Mattarella, his daughter and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni opted for timeless , dark coloured suits, seemingly navy blue on the President and black on Laura Mattarella and Giorgia Meloni (nice contrast with their blonde hair 👍)
Exquisite tailored suits, all of them.
Same goes for the three royal gentlemen in attendance.
I also like the pic showing the Dutch royals supporting their country.
On a bit funny note, I wish I could be a fly to listen to their conversations, mainly in English , I guess.
If ever any of these royals should have spoken a iittle bit of Italian, also making predictable mistakes, I am sure the native Italians there would have been so polite to them as to avoid correcting them.
italian Is a rather difficult language to learn and speak so we Italians are normally pretty tolerant to foreigners.

I think Italian is one of the easier languages for English mother tongue speakers to learn. Did not realise you were Italian P - always assumed you were American?!

Prince Albert is a fluent Italian speaker. His family roots are in fact Italian (the House of Grimaldi came from Northern Italy).

@13.18 in linguistic circles, Italian is considered an easy language to learn, Dutch a little harder due to the guttural pronunciation of the 'g' .

      @ 17:31/ 19:21
Oh, I forgot the linguistic circles, yes, so sorry.
I was referring obviously to the complexity of the Italian grammar and synctactic structures, if you know what I mean.
Italian pronunciation is a quite different matter of discussion.
During my university years , I had to cope with all types of linguistics texts, such hard work!
I undertook the study of Germanic languages, notably English and German, plus additional courses in Germany.
Guttural sounds were the order of the day and still are because I have to use German- amongst other languages- at work.
You asked about my Dutch , still learning, but that's not a mandatory requirement for my job, just the result of my longtime passion for Germanic languages.
That's not boasting, that's my life.
I studied for decades and yet my Globetrotter soul won over everything.
That's why I applied for a job as a flight attendant , which I adore.
I don't often have enough time to correct my typos in my comments but this does not detract in the least from my factual use of a number of languages on a daily basis.
The Dutch passengers I usually interact with are extremely fluent in English.
I don't know why I have been asked about my Dutch knowledge, given It has nothing to do with my 13:18 comment.
I bet Queen Maxima can pretty well understand Italian as it shares similar features with her mother tongue.

@1318 you would be surprised how many royals are multi lingual. I find your comment offensive in that we are all tolerant of people having the courage to communicate in the countries language even if it is not perfect. Shame on you

You don't even have the courage to sign your mindless attacks, as always.
I never said royals are not multilingual people, quite the opposite.
If you don't understand the meaning of my comments and enjoy fabricating baseless narratives, please refrain from replying nonsense you should really be ashamed of.

20:35 makes a valid point and I felt a little similarly. P the original you do sometimes write things that upset others and instead of accepting that many will interpret your words in many ways, which is normal!, you jump to a harsh defence. You don’t have to, it becomes mean; just let it slide as mostly what you write is very well appreciated and informative.

@P.The original using a nom de plume is also a form of hiding, and your manner of communication is very obvious.
    @ 2035. I agree , the comment was demeaning.
    P. the original, a suggestion, be succinct (if you know what I mean)!
And you most definitely suggested that the DRF did not understand Italian.

Now I can really * understand* why a wise commenter once said that he/she visited this blog just to scroll the beautiful set of pics provided and that (S)he was fed up with the ongoing kind of harsh verbal interactions.
What really matters to me is the factual feedback from natives coming from English speaking countries in real life, the opposite of what is stated here from strangers who have never met me in person.
I much appreciate the DRF , no offense was meant as mine was an obviously light- hearted comment , otherwise why should I be so enthusiastic every time I see the Dutch royals on this blog?
Many readers claim a sort of Freedom of Speech for themselves but don't grant any to other commenters.
Finally , I feel that focusing on my 13:18 comment is just another way of skipping informed fashion comments.
This is a fashion- based site, so please shift your focus on fashion comments only and leave me alone.
I will slide truly offensive and groundless comments against me from now onwards, that's a really good suggestion.
    Thank you.

All that was meant was that Italians are not the only people that are ‘tolerate’ of people who don’t speak the country’s language perfectly. Any attempt is welcomed for at least trying.
