Beautiful cashmere cape and dress, but I would prefer it with her dark red boots from Gianvito Rossi ! It would give some colour on a very grey day in the Netherlands.

Ooh good call on the red boots - maybe we will see that combination next time. The outfit is beautiful.
Nice to see this couple together, they do seem to enjoy each others company and genuinely like each other - I hope that's true. Happy anniversary to them and many more to come

The both look nice, the cashmere must be so warm and cozy to wear. Now the kings pants, is it the wind that is making them look twisted or just not a good fit.

Bland and boring. Some colour is needed, burgundy boots or even one of her ridiculous hats would lift a dull outfit. Good to see she managed to brush her hair.

Bland and dull? Hmm, I can only wonder what this commenter was wearing when s/he made this comment! To my eyes, Maxima and the King are full of warmth in these photos and that is never bland nor dull. Aside from that, I find these colours classic and elegant and Maxima looking terrific.

Odd perception since I find them to be such a joyful and exuberant couple during their public outings together, especially in this outing where they both look healthy and happy to be serving their country. MR

    1. I suggest you try to update your knowledge about trends and choices available to fashion customers in these days, be it about hair or clothing. Maxima is not wearing a wig, but some hair extensions. I assure you it is quite different.
You may, however, not like it and regret it. But express it in a way that makes sense.

      I couldn't agree more, @ Mary T.
Up- to- date knowledge about hair and clothing trends and choices is of utmost importante if one wants to comment on a contemporary fashion blog!
Otherwise , one may choose to comment on other old- fashioned blogs while singing out loud
      "Auld lang syne"! 😉

@20.31 that is your opinion, 17.11 has a different one - respect that. I think the cape is overwhelming, and some colour would add interest. I agree with 16.37, the suit does not seem to be a good for or well tailored.

  13. This ensemble looks stunning. Love the outfit, she looks elegant, stylish and well groomed. Love this cashmere cape, I can only imagine how warm it must be. I love the same color of her dress. I don't mind the color of her boots at all. She looks wonderful.

I find the superlatives used by some commentators to describe what is a rather plain cape and dress, ordinary black boots, none of which are haute couture rather amusing. The outfit may be smart but it is also mundane.

      Sorry, you are wrong.
Regardless of the readers' personal impressions, Queen Maxima objectively wore haute couture creations ( I understand that not everybody has a sharp eye for them, though).
Begg x Co is a brand which sells Scottish luxury cashmere pieces and the boots are from Gianvito Rossi.
Of course, every commenter has his/ her own preferences but this is no ordinary selection of items for sure.
To my mind, It is quiet, modern and subtle elegance.

I do not like her outfit. The sihouette seems wrong to me. I prefer the dress underneath without the cape :-) She has styled her hair wonderfully. I love their smile. CC

Oh P the original, I doubt if any item is haute couture but one of many produced by Begg x Co. Please explain why it is such an extraordinary selection of items, that your sharp eye has spied.

      Dear @ Anonymous19:05
basically, I think you are doing a mishmash of two different points: the inner quality of the ensemble wom by Q.Maxima (plus her boots) and the way every commenter perceives the overall visual effect on her.
If you think that this is a plain and ordinary outfit, it is perfectly fine but It Is just your impression, not mine or other readers'.
By the way, I never said that this is an" extraordinary"(whatever this word means to you) selection of items, I just debated your two statements:
      - "I doubt if any item is haute couture but one of many produced by Begg x Co".
      ( Of many? All their creations fall in the luxury/ haute couture category!);
      - "none of which are haute couture".
Stating the latter point implies that the writer knows neither of the luxury brands involved- Begg x Co. and Gianvito Rossi-.
As a matter of fact, both of them are haute couture fashion houses.
The only difference is that Begg x Co. is more on the " niche" side, whereas the Italian based maison
"Gianvito Rossi" is more widely known internationally.
Both use first quality materials- original Scottish cashmere and the finest leather , respectively- and the most accurate craftsmanship.
I myself have two pairs of shoes by Gianvito Rossi and they are by far different to seemingly similar non- high-end kind of footwear.
Best quality has stiff prices, of course, which means that they are not always affordable for ordinary people.
To make a long story short: you may praise a low- cost outfit because you like the overall visual effect it makes on the wearer but you will never find the same quality and care for details as in luxury brands items.

  21. I basically like the outfit, however better worn by the model. Probably mainly because of the handbag worn under the cape ; it destroys the overall look. A clutch held in her hands would look better.

@21.44 P. the original - what a dreadful tirade, @19.05 simply asked you what you saw as other than ordinary in the outfit.
The items are not haute couture by definition of being bespoke/made to measure, they are pret a porter. The Rossi boots are for sale in their on-line shop as is the cape/dress combo at a reasonable £1,495. There is a differrence between luxury and haute couture, the latter must meet strict requirements set by the Paris Chamber of Commerce. It is risible that you have often let us know that you have `couture` items, in this case Rossi shoes (2 pairs!). I am sure many commentators could say the same but choose not to boast. AND `extraordinary` is a word the definition of which is unexpected, surprising, strange. You were being asked to explain what you saw in the outfit that made it stand out. It is not unigue. Other commentators have noted they do not like aspects of the clothing, valid comments. Next time try giving a polite answer to a query rather than trying to belittle.

Well, I was pretty kind in my 21:44 reply , I was clearly belittling nobody , nor was I boasting.
I was simply giving an example from my personal experience, just because I am part of the Gianvito Rossi's clientele (one of his vast clientele, it goes without saying).
By the way, G.Rossi offers bespoke/ made to measure footwear ,too.
I don't buy his creations online, I prefer to visit his physical shops in Italy.
I don't like your poor attempt at making me say what I didn't even think and intend but I understand your dismissive tone is all you can offer to corroborate your nasty reply.
Another commenter would rightly and surely ignore you but I chose to reply to clarify the impression I get from your moot way of writing back.
Then, why do you speak on behalf of the 17:05 commenter?
      I was asked what?
I don't owe you any explanation, still I was so polite as to reply to your request but you opted for a further harsh verbal exchange, so unnecessary!
I know what 'extraordinary' means and I had already explained that I think Maxima's outfit is quiet, modern and subtle elegance.
My eyes caught sight of the quality of her garments exactly like other commenters' eyes did.
      Why?
Because some commenters and myself are regular clients of haute couture maisons and we can recognize exquisite quality when we spot it.
You seem to talk on a purely theorical basis, whereas I brough a first hand example and this has nothing to do with boasting.
It is meant to simply giving proof of the high quality of some of my purchases and why I have a sharp eye for quality clothing/ footwear.
The difference you make between haute couture and luxury creations is obviously incorrect as they are often used as synonyms for designer, bespoke items.
Haute couture maisons often offer separate lines of Pret- a -Porter pieces, luxury pieces and bespoke creations .
By the way, what you see on the Gianvito Rossi online site is probably the outlet section where sales can account for the sensibile price drops.
I am sorry if you feel humiliated but it is fairly obvious that I was just clarifying the meaning of' haute couture'.
Finally, you tirade is much more dreadful than mine is supposed to be.
I suggest you focus on the real tone and intention of a person kindly replying to you before attacking someone unreasonably.
You even feel you have a right to call me risibile, while I didn't even remotely think of defining you this way.
This says a lot more about you than me.
I regret replying to you yesterday h.21:44, this will never happen again.
If you want me to lie, ok, I'll tell you that my closets are stuffed with low- cost items.
      A farewell.
