King Maha and Queen Suthida Attend a Ceremony at Dusit Palace in Bangkok

On February 17, 2026, King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida of Thailand presided over the Royal Ancestral Tablet Offering Ceremony on the occasion of Chinese New Year 2026 (Buddhist Era 2569), held at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall at Dusit Palace in Bangkok. The ceremony was first held during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV).

Ancestral tablets, also known as spirit tablets or memorial tablets, are placards used to designate the symbolic seat of a deity or deceased ancestor. The name of the deity or ancestor is usually inscribed on the tablet. Spirit tablets are traditional ritual objects commonly found in temples, shrines, and household altars throughout mainland China and Taiwan.
