Last week, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited the Luleå Archipelago in Norrbotten County together with the Governor of Norrbotten County, Lotta Finstorp. At sunrise, the Crown Princess and her accompanying party travelled along the ice road to Hindersön before continuing their journey through the archipelago by snowmobile.
Just outside Hindersön, the Crown Princess and County Governor Lotta Finstorp took part in water sampling to assess water quality and environmental changes. The Environmental Analysis Unit of the County Administrative Board regularly conducts water testing in local waters. The Crown Princess drilled a hole in the thick ice before carrying out the sampling.
During the snowmobile journey through the archipelago, the Crown Princess and the County Governor rode in a sled pulled behind an electric snowmobile that the County Administrative Board is testing for use in nature management.
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden was briefed by project managers Anna Berhan and Ida Nutti Ingebrigtsen on the CLAP project, a cross-border collaboration between northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland aimed at climate-adapting the management of protected areas and improving climate communication.
