Overall a stylish look from Rania except for the white shoes.

  3. Toutes les deux ont beaucoup d’allure, chacune dans son style ; la jupe vert olive en velours froncé de Rania pourrait me plaire pour mon dressing !

Queen Rania is wearing an odd combination of a navy coat, a bronze coloured ruched velvet skirt, a bronze coloured bag, a creaam coloured blouse and a pair of white shoes. Although it is by Dries Van Noten, I really don't like the skirt. The blouce is classic and will do. The coat is more or less classic too, except for the high shoulder pads, which are worse on the model than on Rania. On picture N° 7, I see President Erdogan is taking the hand of his wife. I think I never saw an outing of tenderness between these too.

I’m not sure the hand hold is tenderness. They are not holding hands, he is holding her hand. There is an awkwardness across these photos.

@Anon 17:29: Very fine observation, "they are not holding hands, he is holding her hand". I would not have noticed, but it is true, it is not a mutual gesture.

I never understood why white shoes are such a problem. It is not a generally accepted faux pas, just a personal dislike. What I don't like here, is everything else on Rania. Her skirt looks as if it slided down from her waist, on both pictures without the coat, and for me, the whole outfit is devoid of fit and form. The coat is nice but there it ends with niceness. Ms. Erdogan's outfit is for me more like a whole lot of fabric to cover the body (and yes I know why she chooses to do so, but this does not make her clothing to be an item of fashion).

I like this skirt and paired with the flowy blouse works to balance it. I like her shoes. The blue head covering is styled nicely, giving a bit of height, look good.

Sorry, but I see nothing western here. The clothes are made to cover everything in the length and in the width. The head covering is also a style one never see on western women nor on islamic women. Maybe it is Turkish fashion ? The other women at the exhibition of textile works are well dressed in Western pant suits.

To be clear ladies, Turkey skirts east and west. It sits in Europe and Asia. Traditionally until recently with democratic backsliding it has been open. When I visited first in 2000, women working in the public service were not allowed to cover their heads/faces. But what we see here is an Arabic wife who has long preferred this style of dressing. She is not trying to be western but traditional.

As much as I hate purely negative comments here, I watched a short video of this visit, and I was aghast at Rania’s face and restricted expressions. Seeing her in still photos over time the extent of cosmetic interventions was clear but only in the video could I see the full negative effects. Graceful aging is a challenge for all but it may be particularly hard as a constantly photographed public figure.

  9. The coat is beautiful, I love the design of this coat, its flattering and stylish. The white shoes with this look is a no. The skirt though I personally don't like front ruching, works well for the Queen here. The silk white blouse is very elegant. I love the color of her bag and the style.

For my taste, neither of these outfits stand out as beautiful or stylish but in both cases no doubt obscenely expensive.

I'm puzzled about the white then black cape and then nothing of the first lady. Once inside looks like she changed it and then removed it. I would like to know the story behind it
And indeed Rania likes her white shoes, morning wrong with them, I just didn't like them.

Too much clothing for the Turkish First Lady but nice color. I do like Q Ranias coat, the skirt is so not a wow, I like the shoes but not with this combination.

Love the skirt and blouse but you need a figure like Q. Rania's to do them justice, the velvet adds a touch of luxury. The coat was part of the 2025 Alaia collection where the collar was larger and doubled as a hood, Q.R's choice is better, imo, the asymmetrical buttoning is clever. I do think the light shoes are a strange choice considering it is winter.

The "problem" with white shoes is that the optical illusion of them almost always makes the foot look larger than it is no matter the size. That can throw off the porportions of the whole ensemble. In additon, the brightness of them automatically draws the eyes to them; stealing the thunder, as it were, to whatever else is being worn. Also, I'm old school and believe certain color palets for certain seasons. In the northern hemisphere right now it's winter. White shoes screams summer (and "winter white" is not usually white but more of a warm cream; jmo) so that makes them look out of place for me.

All colours are ok for all the year. Winter in parts of Turkey is very mild. That said, I have a hangover bias from the 80s in feeling that white shoes are tacky unless bridal!
