The Empress looks wonderful. All ladies are elegant in their very typical Japanese high fashion style. Good reminder how slowing our quest for new and shiny things (in general, clothes included) might in the end be the better avenue.

Slowing the quest for new and shiny things is not just wise but now requires of us if we are to slow down pollution enough for nature to recover and keep us safe. Agree!

  2. A room full of elegance and quiet style. Each imperial lady looks beautiful. The Empress looks gorgeous. I love her gown. Its lovely to see some variations in colors with the gowns. Beautiful presentation from the imperial ladies.

Boggles the mind how the Japanese royal family, as advanced as Japan is, still dresses this way.

Boggles the mind, dear 2:29, to consistently read comments misunderstanding Japanese formality, respect and traditions.

This is their culture, no worse than plumed hats, velvet capes, and knickers.

Aiko is a real standout here, imo. Such a lovely young woman, she just glows — and her dress is exquisite ♥️.

Agree, her dresses at both this event and the previous one (the public greetings) have been superb. Christine

The lady who catches my eye is Kako who is superb in this blue, with the black jacket and headband.

I agree, perhaps slightly darker pastels

    Paloma.
