Heartfelt condolences to all the members of the Spanish Royal Family.
Princess Irene had such a remarkable personality and led such an eccentric/ nonconformist and inspirational Life.
She was a free spirit, selfish and fond of meditation.
    A brilliant mind, too.
I would have liked her and shared some aspects of her character for sure , if I had had the luck to meet her.
A well spent Life , full of personal accomplishments.
R.I.P., Madam, surrounded by all deserved honors and tributes🙏🌹

Yes, she seemed to be selfless rather than selfish. It’s an easy typo to make!

    4. Thank you P. the original.
I agree, Princess Irene appears to have lived a selfless life.
Unfortunately, it’s a lifestyle that we don’t see or hear much of these days.

      Hello, @ Deadeggs.
Thank you so much for the link you sent me.
I had already read a few articles on P. Irene but the bulk of information from Wikipedia is much more exhaustive, of course.
"Irene" comes from a Greek word meaning "peace" and the late Princess really seems to have been a peaceful, active, sensitive, empathetic and selfless lady throughout her lifetime.
Unfortunately, she went through a rough patch in her early years , just like the rest of her family.
I read that she also had a short career as a pianist for some time and I believe that whoever loves music must be a sensitive soul.
This fascinates me somehow as I also took piano lessons when I was a child and my mother was a piano " virtuosa" herself as well .
She also taught me some French poems she particularly loved by P. Verlaine.
This can account for my penchant for poetry, I think.
Then I gave up my piano lessons but I still enjoy classical music.
I do think I would have liked to meet and talk with this remarkable and cultivated Princess.
      Yes, RIP chère Princess.

      17:16 That's splitting hairs.
It was implied I had made a typo.
The context was clear enough for the correct word to be inferred.
I see so many mistyped comments on this blog but never point that out.
I very often have no time left to even scratch my head, let alone correct what I wrote.

Pretty much all the royal houses are related through Queen Victoria. Heck, I think all of us are related to each other through Queen Victoria. LOL.

Irene had her own style, colourful blouse with pants. In her younger days she was very fashionable. Perhaps her years of living in India influenced her choices later in life. She was an accomplished pianist. I especially like the blouse in the second photo, nice colours for her complexion. Always a pleasure to see her with her sister and the kings family.

My condolences to the family and loved ones of Princess Irene. I feel especially for Queen Sofía as not only is Irene her sister but HM has also recently suffered the losses of dear friend, Princess Radziwill, and her brother, King Constantine, as well.

  6. Very sad to hear this. Princess Irene seemed a typical ‘old school’ royal—-loyal, smart, dignified and discreet. I was also fascinated by the remarkable resemblance between her younger self and her niece Infanta Sofia. Condolences to Queen Sofia and the Spanish and Greek royal families.
