On December 10, 2025, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine, and Christopher O’Neill attended the 2025 Nobel Prize Award Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall. The 2025 Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and Economic Sciences were presented by King Carl Gustaf to the laureates during the ceremony.
Queen Silvia wore Queen Sofia’s Nine-Prong Tiara with the Bernadotte Emerald Parure, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s portrait brooch.
Crown Princess Victoria wore the Baden Fringe Tiara with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s portrait brooch.
Princess Madeleine wore the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Seraphim, and King Carl Gustaf’s portrait brooch.

I think Victoria is wearing an old Nobel-dress from her mom, looks stunning!
ReplyDeleteYes, she looks wonderful!

Victoria has a muscular build not as feminine as it looked on her mother
Yes her mother wore it in 1994 to the Nobel banquet as the protocol to the ceremony was covered shoulders. Interesting fabric it is made from animal hair woven in to retain the shape. Fabulous
DeleteAll threes ladies are in repeated dresses! They all look truly amazing, this is the kind of glamourous Nobel gala you hope to see :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, this was the day we were waiting for to see them decked out in all their finery, and they didn't let us down.
ReplyDeleteI give credit to Victoria for being daring in wearing a new and unusual dress. It is not to my personal style, and a dash of colour somewhere would have given it added lift, but I love that she was bold to wear it...and she wears it well.
Q.Sylvia and P. Madeleine went the more traditional route and of the two, I think I prefer Sylvia's better, despite her skirt being a bit too full. A slimmer skirt would have looked lovely as well.

Anon 9:13, the dress is unusual, but not new. Silvia wore it 1994. The designer is Jaques Zehnder.
DeleteCP Victoria is wearing Queen Silvia's Nobel gown from 1994. I really like it and I agree, she wears it well, just like her mother did all those years ago.
Delete@Anon 9:13, can you imagine that Q. Silvia wore in Nobel 1994 the same dress that CP Victoria is wearing today!! It really looks like a fashion piece from 2025. Sculptural gown.
DeleteThank you to Coralie, Anon 19:29 and Zucchina for informing me that Q.Sylvia wore this dress in 1994! I appreciate it. And now I have even more respect to Victoria for wearing it! It is also a tribute to her mother, as well as to fashion trends. Yes Zucchina, I definitely thought that it was newer and a more recent sculptural piece. Isn't it amazing how trends can carry on through the years? Yes Anon 19:29, Victoria does justice to it very nicely.

My favorite event in the Swedish royal calendar is finally here, the Nobel festivities!!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to this ceremony and banquet every year with high hopes. I must say however I'm quite disappointed with tonight's looks.
HM Queen Silvia: I believe we first saw this gown back in 2023 for the King's Golden Jubilee banquet. While I'm not a big fan of the color, I do like how her Majesty paired some emerald jewels with it.
CP Victoria: While I do appreciate the princess for wearing her mother's old gowns, this time around it is a huge miss for me. The dress' color combination of cream and black is beautiful but I don't like the style at all. Her pearl brooch and earrings are gorgeous.
Princess Madeleine: We have another repeat gown at tonight's ceremony. We also saw this dress at the King's Golden Jubilee banquet back in 2023. The first time around the princess wore it with the pink topaz earrings but I must say the dress looks stunning with the Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara (one of my favorite tiaras from the royal collection). My favorite look of the night, 10/10.
What stands out to me is the creativity around how to appropriately place the order sashes! I thought Victoria's was part of the gown design at first. I'm not sure I've ever seen a sash directly against the body, and Madeleine's beneath the sparkly sheath of her dress. I suppose the message is that the fashion takes precedence over the order? Very interesting, indeed.
ReplyDeleteStavolta è Madeleine la mia preferita, con il suo abito scintillante e leggero sembra la fata delle nevi.
ReplyDeleteThe Crown Princess is wearing a dress that the Queen first wore in 1994.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite moments of the year... they all look fabulous! Apparently Sofia didn't attend? Too bad, she always looks great in her wedding tiara.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm waiting for those over the should looking photographs during the Nobel Prize dinner. Lovely traditions in Sweden!

Jewels, jewels, jewels!!!
ReplyDeleteQ - This yellow can be difficult to wear but she looks fantastic and the pairing with emeralds makes the outfit feel modern.
CPV - I appreciate an interesting silhouette, and she can wear anything, but I’m not sure the muted color palette and piping are helping what seems to be poor fit on the top.
PM - Beautiful color and sparkle, and dying over that tiara.
Agree about CPV, the bodice appears too loose and tacked on and is ill-fitting. Lovely tiara and tiara hair.
DeleteMrs Cleaver
The dress has been reworked to fit CP Victoria. It has been made longer and the bodice widened. There seems to be a black panel inserted in the back which looks ok as a design but probably affects the font. Unfortunately the fit is not as good as it was on the Queen. Still looks very good and the combination with the fringe tiara is excellent.
DeleteMadeleine est magnifique
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
The gown CP Victoria is wearing apparently is one of the Queen's that she wore in 1994! This looks great and its marvelous she has worn it. I love the brooch she wore this is beautiful. The Queen looks stunning, she wears this color well. Pss Madeleine looks gorgeous. Love her aqua tiara, this is beautiful
ReplyDeleteQS and PM looks great. I like the fact that CPV rewears mums gown, but I HATE the order directly on the skin
ReplyDeleteMadeleine’s gown is beautiful on her, and she always looks so great wearing the aquamarine kokoshnik. I think I would like Victoria’s gown better if her sash was in front of the top fold, instead of behind it (I saw on another website a picture showing Silvia wearing the dress in the 1990’s with the sash behind the fold and I preferred that look). The way Victoria is wearing her sash makes the gown look overly angular, almost architectural, to me. Silvia looks immaculate, as usual, but I don’t think her hairstyle is particularly flattering here; it looks rather helmet-like.

There is a sparkle in Queen Silvia's eye and I think she looks stunning in this color. She wears the color well. I personally like Princess Madeleine's gown, simple, chic and elegant. And kudos to the royal ladies for re-wearing the gowns .
ReplyDeleteI like Madeleine´s gown from what I can see. The silver/ice blue colour is great on her and works well with her tiara and killer earrings. The design is not new but true and tested. Sparkly and elegant.
ReplyDeleteVictoria looks great too, but white is not her colour. She looks pale. I also think that Silvia wore the dress better. I´m not sure why, maybe her more substantial updo makes the difference, maybe it´s her more petite frame, maybe white suits her better, or maybe it´s the straps vs strapless difference. Dunno.
Silvia´s gown for tonight is very regal in shape, but I just don´t like the mustard yellow colour as such, and especially not the colour contrast created by the different materials/textures.
Of course they all look great, but it´s not the best year in terms of dress-to-wearer matching. I am slightly underwhelmed I must say.
Queen Silvia is my favourite as so often before. Her gowns fit wonderfully and she has a keen eye for detail. Unfortunately that cannot be said about CP Victoria. Nice to be thrifty and choose Queen Silvia´s gown from the 1994 Nobel ceremony, but as it was not made for CP Victoria, it needed some proper fitting. It was not a good idea to remove the left shoulder strap that helped to keep the upper part in place. It leaves me with the impression that Victoria isn´t entirely comfortable with it, like having a feeling the upper flap might slide down. The medallion with the King´s portrait is half-hiding behind the upper flap, too near the armpit. Queen Silvia in 1994 placed it on top the flap in a more prominent and appropriate place. And last but not least, the décolleté, needs a necklace, that would have drawn the attention from the gown´s uneasily hanging upper part. I was curious to see how Queen Silvia wore it more than 30 years ago and for me she is clearly the winner with her wonderful feeling for dressing and what suits her.
ReplyDeleteYou´ve got a good eye, and I like your analysis of Victoria´s strap and flap and how she placed her order. I totally agree. I suspect Victoria had to remove (or tuck in) the shoulder strap simply because she´s taller than her mum, she needed the dress to sit like 5cm lower so the skirt is long enough on her. As a result, the strap won´t fit her shoulder. When Silvia wore the dress, the peak of the flap almost reached her shoulder, but on Victoria it´s quite a bit lower. It´s also like 10cm away from her skin causing it to look loose and in danger of flipping over. I assume it´s well secured enough to stay in place, but it just doesn´t look as flat and straight and well placed as when Silvia wore it. Silvia´s strategy of pinning the flap in place was better in terms of function and aesthetics (further away from armpit).
DeleteIn Sweden they know how to pair tiaras to the wearer and place them straight on their head! Beautiful! All three ladies have them perfectly set with their hair and nose position! Might seem minor to some, but it just brings it to the next level! Beautiful gowns, queen Silvias is a demanding colour but she can pull it off! Victoria is true to her beliefs (environment and sustainability), and does a re-wear without it feeling outdated or boring. The gown looks great on her. Madeleine is also true to her style and looks very bit a princess, although maybe a little bit of a predictable style choice on her part. Lovely event! We do need to celebrate actual science in today's world! The ladies do their part on drawing attention to the event beautifully. And no one can quite wear a tux as well as the king of Sweden. Perfection!
ReplyDeletePetite préférence pour la robe de Madeleine.
ReplyDeleteMais déçue par les deux autres robes et déçue de ne pas voir Sofia.
Paloma.
Everyone looks great. Once a year the Tiaras and beautiful gowns for a very worthy event. The best to everyone.

Madeleine looks always so great wearing the Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara. This time with her hair down and creating another stunning look.
ReplyDeleteAs to the gowns, then all repeated, so a little disappointed. I liked Madeleine's gown the best.
As to Victoria's gown, then there's something off about it. When I looked at old photos of Queen Silvia wearing it, then I liked it better. Somehow the front of the gown sits weirdly and baden fringe tiara doesn't suit w/this dress. Also the dress is too pale, making her look pale too.
Queen Sivlia on the other hand has chosen very colorful dress and you can not miss her. She may be in her early 80s but looking at her, I'd say that age is just a number.
