In connection with the launch of the updated website of the Norwegian Royal Court, new official portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja were released. The portraits were taken earlier this year in the Mirror Hall at the Royal Palace by photographer Kimm Saatvedt.
In the portraits, Queen Sonja wears the Norwegian Emerald Tiara and Parure, along with the sash and star of the Order of St. Olav and King Harald V’s Family Order.
Not my favourite dress but she looks lovely in it. The emeralds are spectacular. The king looks noble and majestic. He appears to be a very benevolent man.

ردحذفThey both look lovely an all but, someone should hide this gown and the neon green one from her. I get the recycle clothes thing but, it's been done to death. Splurge and buy a new gown. The jewelry is is beautiful!

حذفAnon 19:32-I’m in agreement with everything said. I’m not sure if they have a “healthy” budget to spend on clothes; there’s nothing wrong with recycling old gowns, but this one should be put in a museum. Mette Marit is the same.

حذفThe dress should be retired because it's ugly. I appreciate "money issues" yet this isn't a normal family. M-M also needs to retire some as well.
I don't think at her age Queen Sonia will still buy new gala dresses. When she is dressed casual she looks better and more fashionable than in her gala dresses. She doesn't look worse than Princess Anne when she wears her old gala dresses. P. Anne who is much younger than Queen Sonja also wears old coats, dresses, 2 pieces, shoes, etc... Sometimes but very occasionally P. Anne buys a new coat or other clothes and she looks much better.

I love the dress, it suits Sonja and her personality well, and it suits her coloring too. No need to put it (or Sonja) in a museum. :-) I know the yellow color may be a bit too much to stomach for some people, but I myself love those warm and bright colors and prefer them to the dull blues, greys and beiges any day. But tastes differ.

Queen Sonia's face looks very young, almost no wrinkles. I think the pictures have been photoshopped. King Harald too has no wrinkles any more. I'd prefer his picture with a walking stick instead of looking for support by means of a chair. By looking at his legs one can see immediately he cannot stand up without help.
ردحذفI think the second photo was photoshopped, because his right hand is not the same as when it is on the chair., much smaller. I would suspect he was leaning on his cane that was taken out.
حذفIt's called light. If you can't see the wrinkles you need a new lap top 😉 Don't know what problem you have with the kings hand. Try to think about what the result would be holding a hand in different position when your sleeve fall more down on yor hand, pulling it back will it be smaller or bigger, bending your fingers. Reflecting isn't hard.

ردحذفSorry but Sonja is not my favourite queen when it comes to fashion. Awful this dress, too yellow, too busy, too much of everything. The jewelry would be spectacular on a plain dress but not with an embroidered yellow one.

حذفAlways happy to see them. That said, I am not a fan of this gown. The style is dated and the busyness of the sparkly pattern does not let the jewels shine. These are significant pieces that ought to have a dress that allows them to be seen. Please, time to retire this gown. It's been worn to death.

ردحذفIt's a no on the dress and jewels for me. Way too busy looking, but I do love this King and Queen. They push on, especially the King, despite obvious mobility challenges.

ردحذفGreat portraits of King Harald V and Queen Sonja, can’t believe they will be 89 next year. I’ve seen the portraits in HD, and they are definitely not photoshopped. The yellow gown by Peter Dundas is a perfect contrast to the gorgeous dark green emeralds. Thank God the Queen doesn’t take fashion advice from this blog!

Yellow is my favorite color, but the cut and brighter color of the skirt is distracting. On the flip side, the emerald tiara, earrings, necklace, and brooch are absolutely stunning! She’s a beautiful woman and a great Queen. Much happiness to the royal couple!
ردحذفNo comment on the gown nor colour, just a great picture (2nd pic) capturing the smile of them both, making it friendlier than usual official and formal picture. This would be how i would like to see and remember the King and Queen of Norway, an admirable couple.

They are such a lovely couple, and the emeralds are magnificent. (Although I do wish they’d return the tiara into its original shape and swap the current earrings with the palmettes flanking the “postage stamp” in the middle.) The yellow gown does look dated, but could be easily improved by re-styling the massive skirt into a column shape and lifting the waistline a bit.
