Queen Mary is in Brazil to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), held in the city of Belém. On the second day of her visit, Queen Mary visited the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the country’s leading institute in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and sustainability. The Queen then visited Utinga State Park in Belém.
Queen Mary also visited pavilions and events at the official COP30 conference venue, Hangar. In connection with a visit to the African Pavilion, the Queen delivered a speech at the launch event for a new funding initiative on climate adaptation.
Generally, I adore Mary's sublime taste for details and combination. In this case: blouse and trousers are both soft and feminine, nice together, sure without a belt too. But this belt is just that small speck of perfection: by separating both, it connects them into a composition.

ReplyDeleteI like the blouse and trousers, but am iffy on the belt. I can see why she wanted to wear one, but I am not sure this was the best option. I think it needed a belt with a neater closure in a solid color to marry the two unstructured pieces. This two toned belt with the asymmetrical closure is gives a more jumbled feel.
ReplyDeleteSon collier est très original. Une chemise blanche est toujours parfaite (celle-ci doit être en lin). Le pantalon est décontracté, adapté pour cette occasion.
ReplyDeleteJe préférais la ceinture tressée caramel (vue le 11 avec le pantalon bleu foncé) car celle-ci me fait un peu penser à une ceinture de maintien pour les lombaires. J'aime bien la combinaison rose d'une jeune femme (dernière photo). Paloma.

'Beauty is is in the eye of the beholder' I don't actually see this and feel that so many of the subject s are beautiful in there own way. For me Stephanie and the Japanese empress are the real beauties

ReplyDeleteThe pants are too baggy, shapeless and unflattering but I like the burnt orange colour. I don't like the belt but the white blouse with rolled up sleeves is smart, classic and timeless.

Once again, Mary is dressed perfectly for her surroundings and environment. Being outdoors in 30+C heat and humidity of Belem, wearing looser clothing in earth-toned colours (including cooling white), and made of fabrics that breathe well is not only important but smart as well. To me, the particular belt she has worn is a lovely touch - it hints towards natural indigenous craftwork, which to me draws unites her further to her surroundings.

Mary knows how to do “simple” clothing very well!
ReplyDeleteMary always adds a belt. Here it is appropriate but many times it was added to coats and dresses. It is to create a waist.
