King Felipe and Queen Letizia are undertaking a three-day State Visit to China. On November 11, 2025, Queen Letizia of Spain attended a cultural event at Wangjianglou Park, one of Chengdu’s most emblematic cultural landmarks, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Antonio Machado. The event took place at the “Poet Xue Tao Memorial,” dedicated to one of the most widely read and translated Spanish authors in China.

During the ceremony, Antonio Machado’s poem “To a Dry Elm”, written in Soria in 1912, and two short poems by Xue Tao — “The Festival of the Ninth Day” and “Peonies” — were read in both Chinese and Spanish. Afterwards, the Queen met with poets, writers, and artists, including the Hispanist Zhao Zhenjiang, who translated Machado’s poem into Chinese in 2007 for the Bilingual Anthology of Antonio Machado.

  2. What a lovely, appropriate dress. I like every detail including the three quarter length sleeves, the little 'frills' and the length.

  3. I hope she will experiment more with her hair. Too much long and hanging down. More up and more volume!
I like her dress and hope she can wear low heals now without footpain. Maybe only for the foto opportunity.
Good she is always so interested in other human activities. I hope she sees a lot of the country/people.

  4. Back in 2010 I spent a month in Chengdu, I'm so looking forward to seeing which place the Queen will visit.
The color and shape of the dress suits her well, and clever, thick/warm fabric, almost no buildings have heating.

  5. I really like the red outfit. I think it's a dress but it could be a two piece. Either way it's looks wonderful on Letizia. The little fringe details along the bottom of the sleeves and around the waist add some interest. Her hair looks really long in these photos. I think it would look better if she took off a few inches and neatened it up a bit. It's starting to look a bit messy.

    1. I agree a well chosen dress. Hair could be shorter, but she does keep it away from her face so she is not constantly touching it.

- Dorothe -

    1. Unfortunately, there is not too much jewerly in the Spanish Crown, It dissappeared when the dictatorship, Franco's wife was called "Carmen collares"..."Carmen neckaces", she usually did not pay at the jewerly shops.
Queen Sofía has private things that she borrows with her daughters but little things with Letizia.

  10. Very nice dress. Her coat looks very cozy and warm, leaving it open rather than tying the belt. Could be that it would look like the same coat as the lady accompanying her in photo one. Shoes perfect for walking in but still elegant. Her hair is held back nicely away from her face. I preferred her hair when it was shoulder length rather than splayed on her clothes.

  11. I think the coat is overwhelming her. It would be better with pants, but coats this long just don't flatter. The dress is lovely but a little too long with the lower heels.

  12. Excellent - as we came to expect from her.
