On Foundation Day, the University of London awards honorary degrees to outstanding individuals who have excelled in their fields. This year’s awards were presented during the annual celebration held at Senate House, London, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
Among the recipients was Sir Terry Waite, co-founder of Hostage International, who was captured while seeking the release of hostages in Lebanon and spent almost five years in solitary confinement.
Also honoured were Susannah Schofield, who established the John Schofield Trust in memory of her husband—a journalist killed in action—along with Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, and the Reverend Philip Goff.

The Princess Royal looks lovely. Her robe she wears beautifully.

Fascinating awardees! I just read that Rev P Goff was a parish priest for 4 decades and has then taken up an expert role is the history of academic dress! I wonder if that explains Anne’s superb academic robe here?
ردحذفSuperbe dans cette tenue à laquelle elle a rajouté les incontournables gants !
