    1. She is visiting the Crown Prince, which is of course a photo opportunity. What they do (or don't do) in private, is not a photo opportunity. .

Isn’t it wonderful that people still dress up to honour a family member.

4:31 sarcastic humour doesn’t come across as funny in a forum like this where we don’t know each other and can’t see each other’s faces either.

dear @04:31: Real good humour usually does not need emojis, with lesser quality it might help :-))

It isn't funny if it needs an explanation.

Paloma.

Plaid and stripes can work together if they are coordinating colors, and it is the right plaid with the right stripe. This does not work. I think this is his attempt at casual dress. The color of Kiko's dress is washing her out. It is too similar to her skin tone. I noticed the hair dye as well. Kiko must be as grey as her husband.

  5. We are getting, of course, the traditonal photo shoot setting for high ranking members of the Japanese Imperial Family. I don't think that Prince Fumihito/Akishino looks particularly flattering in his trousers/jacket combo. His wife Princess Kiko is well put together, however, I'm not overly fond of the "bolero" look of her jacket. It just looks ill-matched. I know, of course, that this is not a bolero as such that she put over the jacket, it is the way the jacket is made, nevertheless it's an awkward look. I cease to name them "Crown Prince/Crown Princess" for now, because I learned in a recent post that Fumihito is the Heir Presumptive and hasn't had an inauguration of sorts as Crown Prince/Heir Apparent, which seems to be the thing to do in order to call him officially Crown Prince. Although, he is - inofficially, if you so will.

Prince Akishino officailly became Crown Prince at the Rikkoshi-senmei-no-gi ceremony. The Rikkoshi-Senmei-no-gi is the ceremony held for the Emperor to proclaim that Prince Akishino has become the Crown Prince and for the representatives from home and abroad to express felicitations.

Something very shocking is happening on X (Twitter) in Japan right now.
It has come to light that foreigners have been posting defamatory comments about anti-government demonstrations in Okinawa Prefecture, Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Kako, and Prince Hisahito.
This is thanks to X's newly added "location feature."
One of the accounts that had been making defamatory comments, claiming that Prince Fumihito is only the interim crown prince and that Japan does not currently have a crown prince, has disappeared. The account's location was listed as China, and it disappeared after this was pointed out.
Both the Japanese government and the Imperial Household Agency recognize Prince Fumihito as the crown prince.
More importantly, the Emperor himself announced this both domestically and internationally at the ceremony (Rikoshi no rei) to proclaim him as the crown prince.
We Japanese are proud of the Imperial Family, and we recognize Prince Fumihito as the next emperor.
Please do not be fooled by these lies.

@15:13 - Arigato for that. I was wondering if they had ever met their grandchild. Very sad situation that they haven't as yet. ~~Ruthie
